Got an Ithaca Model 900 in a trade and am wondering if any of you guys own one. Is there anything interesting to look out for? How does it perform? I've heard there are two washers to look out for and it apparently has heavy recoil (not a problem for my size). I'm guessing it's too old to put steel shot through it but wanted to make sure.

Another long-recoil shotgun like the A5. Those 'washers' are friction rings, and it is important to get them set up correctly for the type of shell you're using, magnum or non-magnum. Steel shot through a Full choke is a no-no.
I'm not sure if they have aluminum receivers. If so, it'll be a kicker.
