Ithaca Shotguns

Just out of curiosity, do you shoot a lot of sabots for HD purposes? A rifled barrel is for shooting sabots - reaching out and touching something, but a short barrel pump seems designed for up-close-and-personal home defense.

ithaca shotgun will likely be my next purchase (probably after xmas) Is the 20 or 16 gauge 26" barrel model with fiber optic front sight and vent rib a fairly common stocking item from you and your dealers or will I be looking at a custom order to get one?

Never said I was going to use it for HD, and personally I have no clue why a personal HD gun needs sights. HD to me is shooting 10yards or less. And when I first looked at that gun in the picture, I would not have thought of it as a HD gun. But in the other pic that Farmboy posted with the sling, thats how I picture a HD gun to look. Short, simple and easy to use.

I do shoot sabots for deer hunting. But sabots are not just for reaching out long distance, they are also designed for better accuracy. My current shotgun is great and I knock deer down out long range easily. But I am looking for a rifled barrel with sights for pushing deer in a tight thick bush. They don't make a rifled barrel with sights for the BPS (not that I can find anyways). Or I would find one for it. I only looked at that model above that was shown, because it is nice and compact. And the only reason I asked if it was rifled, is then I wouldn't have to carry more then one type of shell.

I'm talking about the short barreled model, with stock.
 
I'd love a 13.5" with a stock, but I'd settle for an 18.5" as long as the barrel was removeable.

Anyway I talked to someone at Ithaca a few years back and they said I'd be able to order a custom gun with choke tubes, rifle sights (this was before they offered them IIRC), lengthened forcing cone, Perma-Guard (Melonite) finish, shortened buttstock with an 18.5" barrel.

However the time I called them it seems it wasn't possible afterall, too bad. I notice they now have custom shop however that offers engraving and stock options so who knows?
