A friend of mine died 6/7 years ago and the widow has decided to sell the last of this guns---she asked me to try to get a value on this shotgun
I am not involved in the sale at all--just doing a favor
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Sydney

I look at and buy lots of vintage guns. I hang out with a good number of people who do the same. A SBT 7E is a very uncommon gun, particularly in Canada and would have little value to anyone who wasn't a collector of a) Vintage Ithaca or b) SBT.

If you want to get a good sense of where to start with an asking price in Canada, take a look at similar guns for sale in the US. Look at Guns International and Gunbroker and every gun shop that comes up with a 7E for sale in a google search. Recognizing that the asking price is often quite different than the selling price, take the average asking price from every decent condition Ithaca SBT 7E that you find, in US dollars. (For sake of argument $1000 usd). Use that same number but now call it Canadian dollars ($1000 Cdn). Then discount that number by 20% ($800 Cdn)

That's a good starting point for thinking about what someone may pay for it in Canada. But at the end of the day, it's only worth what someone will pay and with that gun you are drawing on a very small part of the market.

Ithaca valued my 4E at $2000 usd in Canada I see them for sale for $1200 in not as good condition as mine. A 7E is a few grades higher and will only appeal to a much small market

What do you mean "Ithaca"?

Ithaca the company? When were they in the business of valuing used guns?

6 or 7 years ago I contacted them about a part for mine with some questions and got a nice reply back with information about my gun and who engraved it year it was made places to send it to for repair and they stated the current used market value was at $2000.
They also gave me the numbers of the grades made and the difference between the various models
I never sent my gun to the states for repair. The ejector bar broke so it's just an extractor gun now until I get it repaired
