Ithaca SKB 300 info please

Looking for info and value for an Ithaca model 300, 12 ga, semi auto, vent rib, beautiful wood with gold inlaid engraving on both sides of receiver. Stamped Dunnville, Ontario. Also stamped "Custom Crafted for Ithaca by SKB" Thanks!

SKB is a Japanese Company they make Ouality firearms at reasonable prices. I typically like there O/U's to me they have a better feel than the Citori's or the Berettas. Maybe someone else can chime in on the Semi Auto's.

I paid 250.00 for my 900... is yours recoil or gas operated? I believe the 300 were recoil.

Paid about the same for my 300. Nice gun but certainly not in the "elegant" catagory

OK thanks. I had thought it was worth more by the engraving and wood quality. I,m glad I asked before I bought it.

they are fine, well made user shotguns, but have been out of production for a long time. They are fine looking guns, but don't over pay for it.

The 300 is recoil operated and can be fussy about shells --- the 300XL is gas operated and is more reliable.

OK, how do I tell between recoil and gas operated??

Recoil has a big spring around the magazine tube, whereas gas will have no spring but cylindrical rings that fit into a piston beneath the bore.

XL 300 and 900 are gas guns.
