o.k. i have an ithaca lewis sxs DOM 1903. it needs a buttstock and forend. does anybody know where i can have them made in canada? i don't really want to have to send the reciever and barrels south .thanks

There is a guy in Dunville who used to work for Ithaca and has a bunch of new old stock parts. I did see buttstocks and forends for side x sides when I was there last. He has alot of parts and should have what you are looking for. His prices aren't great but it should be cheaper than having one made and it will be original.

Sharp's Guns Ltd. RR#4 Dunville Ontario Canada. N1A 2W3. 905-774-6368

I hope that helps,

Good luck

thanks old savage. this one came from B.C. has beautiful damascus markings on the barrel. has the usual old ithaca engravings on the reciever, snipe, partridge etc. 12 ga. put a set of briley full length tubes in 28 ga. in it. head space was good, gun was tight. shoots good but needs a new stock and forend. thanks again

No problem. I hope he has what you are looking for. He has some nice nice nice wood sitting there, something that will most likely look pretty good on the shotgun you are talking about.

His shop is stuffed with all sorts of Ithaca parts. If it all works out, please send us some pictures so we can see what sounds like one hell of a beautiful gun.

Glad I could help

will definately do. i'm leaving the barrels as is and finishing them with dura coat clear. the engraving on the reciever , i'm going to gold inlay ,then finish it in dura coat clear. the dumb part is,no not really, it's a christmas gift for my son. send pictures when my daughter shows me hoe to use my new digi cam. HeHe

Thats one hell of a christmas gift. Sounds like you got it all figured out. I have plans like that for a few of my guns, but I just don't know if I'll ever get to it.

the only real expensive part has been the briley insert tubes. ouch. threy're tapped to take choke tubes, they come with 2 ,skeet and mod.they come with a knocker to place in and remove and a choke tube wrench and carrying case. ya ready for this ,$850.00. the gun came from B.C. for $175.00. so it really ain,t cheap but it should be a nice unit. definately different !!

hahaha. I've done similar things with cars. Buy a real gem for next to nothing and then keeping adding on improvements at damn near twice the price of the original unit.

I have been working on a Fiero (I know) for the last 5 years and have spent more money on parts (not yet installed) than I did on the car. But having a stock Fiero engine with 220 hp, Corvette Brakes, and all the fixins should make for one hell of a nice ride. Just as that will be one hell of a unique and amazing rig you are building for you son. I am sure one look at it and he will realize what it is and what went into it. My father did the same thing for me, but it was a red wagon and I was 7. But the work he put into it made it all worth the while, and his grand kids are playing with it now.

Did you get a hold of that Ithaca guy?

yes i did. he han't got anything that old. he recommends wilcox in B.C.. i'll give them a call, send reciever and barrels out , and let them go to it.. ya know even a regular rifle or shot gun, say ,rem. model 700 in .30-06. put together with used parts comes out to be about twice what you can buy a new one for over the counter. to buy new parts and assemble is even more. i'll leave the cars to you. HA HA. thanks for your help. i'll be in touch and i'll post pics if oops, when i get htis done.
