Prophet River import maybe?
I'm on the hunt for a recent manufacture 16g with choke tubes. It's not looking good though!
Not that I know what came up this way but thinking back when Prophet River first took these on they had a lots of stock in all gauges but I don't remember any 16ga listed. 28ga and the rest yes, same with the dealer that took them after him
I would say you are looking at a gun broker purchase and this is not the time with the low dollar
My 16ga went to briley years ago for tube fitting which would be a cheaper option than what they want for a new one today
Cheers
Yes, with the dollar as it currently sits, importing a complete gun is tough to justify. It might be effective to get a late production "original" 37 from the 70's or 80's and import just a new barrel (no 16 gauges are 3" receivers anyhow), but importing a full gun is just not viable form a cost vs value perspective right now. Unless I find a used one already in Canada, that is.
This may be heresy, but......why not a Browning BPS 16 gauge ?
The last new Ithaca 37s that I saw offered were so overpriced as to be laughable.
Cabela's has the BPS 16 in stock.
You guys nailed it. The 37 shoulders better, is lighter, smoother, has no aluminum trigger guard, all around a better product than the BPS. BPS is a good gun, but it's not a model 37.
Hard to argue with true love.
I always saw the Ithaca 37 as a pretty homely duck aside the Winchester Model 12.
Browning Medallion BPS looks pretty handsome too, if a little fat.
