Does anybody know if older Ithica barrels will fit the newly manufactured receivers? I was hoping to put together a two or three barreled set on a new receiver. Has anyone tried putting an older barrel on a new receiver?

If the serial number of the shotgun is above 855 000 then it should fit without issue.

I've heard that even the ones above that number can appearantly require some degree of fitting.

I have an old ithaca, so this intrigued me. apparently the thread will match up, however it may butt up to the receiver before or after it should and you may have to pay a smith to index the bbl, and check headspace. after this is done they should act like any QD BBL. for 275$ I'm interested though that is more than I paid for the gun.

The thread pitch is different on the early ones, no way will they go on.
I have been looking for a eary 12 ga for years, the barrel is worth more
the the rest of the gun.

I have a couple of Ithaca M37 shotguns.
The second oldest Ithaca I own is an "early" M&P, 7 shot M37, with the overgrown brass bead on a ramp, for it's frontsight. (Ithaca, NY)
In no way will this barrel interchange, with a newer made M87, 7 shot Deerslayer Police Special. (Sandusky, Ohio) Or vice-versa, despite both having the interupted threads on the barrel shank. (above 855 000)
