It's 5:30 AM, opening morning for deer

Ummm....I'm hunting with a bow! Cant you do that everywhere? I know you can't hunt with a gun in some places, but a bow?

Day went from great to just ####ing ridiculous. Got to my stand, set up and settled in for an 8 hour sit. The wind opicked up....then it changed direction....then some knob decided he wanted to sight in his BP rifle about 200 yds from where I was.......no deer. Oh well.....there's always tomorrow!

What's the reasoning in allowing Sunday hunting in basically all of Northern Alberta and NONE of Souther Alberta?

In BC, our Sunday hunting zones are: ...everywhere.

Much of the prairies is no hunting on Sunday. It's a throwback to a bygone era when there were still more farmers than acerage dwellers.

There has to be a lawsuit in the Sunday no Hunting bylaw, somewhere. I can't believe in this day and age that this still exists. Sorry for the hijack but I think this could be a great rally point for CGN, letters to the press and polititians, etc. Unite us all and start with Alberta, then snowball it East with momentum.

I actually spoke with the Manitoba Minister of Natural Resources about this. In Manitoba, you can hunt waterfowl and upland birds on Sundays. You can even hunt Turkey on sundays, but you can only hunt Big game on Sundays in only some areas, such as the Northern portions of Manitoba. I told him that this was riduculaous. He tried to tell me that this was because the Municipalities had not got back to him about it. Passing the buck in my opinion, as hunting is a provincial juridiction, not municipal.

In Ontario the provincial government has decided to let each municipality decide for themselves to allow Sunday hunting or not (guns only, you can hunt with a bow on Sunday everywhere). This only applies to southern Ontario, you could already hunt on Sunday in Northern Ontario. Quite a few of the municipalities have decided to allow Sunday hunting, just none of the ones I happen to hunt in.

Enough of the hi-jack, I was out again this afternoon (was out Sunday afternoon also) and haven't even seen a deer yet. Anybody else having any luck yet?

opening day while walking into my stand i spook a big doe and then see nothiugn while on stand. then while walking out i see the same damn doe standing in the laneway about 30 yards away....damn deer.

i was walking as quiet as possible and the wind was in my favour and i still spook it on the way in about 70 yards away. yet on the way out i was walking normal and making a little noise and it just stands there til i get close...she will get hers via slick trick through the lungs :D
