It's almost here...only five weeks until moose opens :dancingbanana: Barely enough time to decide which rifle to use ;) So after picking through the safe, I came up with these selections for 2007. Which one out of the following list would be your pick for moose this year?

M70 .270Win
M99 .308
M94 .30-30
M70 .30-06
M700 .350 Rem Mag
M77 .338 Win Mag

(shoulda posted this in "Hunting and Sporting Arms")

Out of your choices, I'd take the .338WM. But I'll be using my new baby, the mighty king of the .375's ....the H&H. Oh no, I inadvertantly started a new thread. ;)

270, 308, 30-06...

anything over that is definately over kill.

Moose can get pretty big in Nothern BC. Although a .270, .308 or a .30-06 may be adequate with the proper bullet, I wouldn't call the .350 Rem Mag and the .338 Win Mag overkill for big BC moose.

I would go with the .350 Rem Mag because it's the twin of my .35 Whelen and that's what I use for moose:D.

What!! No Lee Rnfield for the big moose!! For shame.

Btw, I intend to take my Swedish Mauser with 140 grn or 129 grn Hornadys and I won't feel undergunned!

You _could_ use any of the lesser cartridges for moose, but why? You already own the most perfect moose-killing cartridge ever devised.

Don't be coy, just saddle up with the .338 and pretty soon you'll be cutting out backstraps the size of pool noodles.
