On monday I was at the range for pistol night.
There were a bunch of other people out there shooting, but Monday is pistol club so we kind of have run of the range.
I decide to put the 12" by 18" steel pig out at the 75yrd line just to see if I can hit it. Pistol nights are the only time we are allowed to shoot steel at our range.
Lo and behold I can hit that bugger
..... about 6 out of 8 times!! So I wind up putting 200 rnds through my Armco tuned Norc 1911A1 (causing a nice bit of hammer bite, I'll get into that later) and about 250 rnds through my M&P9.
This guy, who I have never seen let alone talked to before, comes over and starts gushing about how awsome it is I can hit the pig at 75..... I mean he is really impressed! So I tell him how its not that hard, then I show him how I am adjusting for elevation and let him put a mag down range with my M&P, he didn't hit it but he came close a few times. (he is another M&P beliver now BTW) Needless to say he is planing on joining the pistol club so he can lean how to shoot....... I told him "it's just practice".... Just shoot a bunch and you can get better.
On the next pistol night I plan to put up the "pig" at 100 yrds...... just to see....
Now the hammer bite......
Today I am at work (I am a service Electrician, so I spend alot of time at other peoples houses & Businesses) I have a 1/2 dime sized scab on the back of my hand (hammer bite from the Norc 1911A1)..... The home owner is telling me the problem he is having, stops in mid sentance and looks at me and says...... "did you just get a new 1911?" So I had to tell him about the Monday I had.... He was impressed too.... Needless to say I didn't actually get started on the job till about a half hour later!
Wow! We really are everywhere!!
So thats a winner of a week in my book, the best in a while too!
PS. I orderd a new beavertail from Brownelles on monday...... because I am going to be shooting a heck of a lot more with my Norc!
Cheers!
