I find the irony about the Shooting at Night commets...
Especially since there is a very vocal group advocating heading out after dark to go and blast a few rounds into the night darkness in the name of fun.
Interesting times RC, intersting times.
Thank You for your Dedication.
Rob

Bull puckey, and you well know it, regarding us that are aware that shooting at night here in BC is not Illegal!

What you are describing, is, in fact, the behavior of those same jerks that shoot signs etc. The theory that the signs were shot at night, somehow connecting to the thread about shooting legally at night here in BC, well, thanks (not really) for being willing to throw us under the bus.

It has bugger nothing whatsoever, in common with folks doing what they want to for fun or business, in a safe manner, in a safe place.

A safe spot to shoot isn't so because of it being light or dark out, and an unsafe one isn't better by one or the other either, and that there is a distinction you should be able to grasp. But apparently cannot.

Slobs is gonna slob, and the law abiding aways get stuck with the end consequences. Shooters are an easy target to sell to the Legislatory powers, if you will excuse the puns. But the fact is, the idiots do what they do, and those that were not getting up anyones arse in the first place, are the ones left holding the bag, literally, or metaphorically.

Those subset of the population that see fit to vandalize and despoil property which is not their own, have been a thorn in the arse of several groups, and have ruined as many activities as they are involved in, and will continue to do so for as long as they are allowed to. Examples that come to mind: Off Roaders, Shooting, Boating, Motorcyclists, and like as not, a few more. The Yobs and a-holes have managed to wreck having access to the various activities by THEIR actions, while those that were not doing so, suffer. Same old, same old.

I agree with most of the sentiment in the video. I also agree that it was long and slow paced.

Cheers
Trev

I can Grasp a whole lotta stuff there Trev, especially to be sure of ones target and what is beyond Sir.
I fail to see how one can see their target and what is beyond when it is dark out.
But, what ever there are those who seem to know best.
BTW, I am still waiting for a call back from a local C/O...well from Maple ridge Office at least .
Cause Nobody has been able to provide otherwise that it is fully legal to shoot on Crown Land in the Dark..unless you know better and can share said Laws please feel free to correct me if you can.
Best Regards,
Rob

So, some are calling RC's video to long?
How about stepping up and showing how to do better?
He is passionate about his activity and has taken a step forward.
Rob

You've misunderstood Rob, a couple of us familiar with how to get YouTube content to succeed are kindly suggesting his good message will go much, much further if he concentrates it to three mins. It's a great message but unfortunately videos this length are typically overlooked and die, and won't get the exposure he's after to help the situation.

My best guess for an answer from a CO will be to bump the question up the line to Stephen McIvor.

But whomever answers the question will likely quote parts of the WAoBC about hunting at night, that shooting at any time must be conducted safely, ensuring that what you are doing is not construed as hunting, an attending officers opinion of how safe/unsafe your shooting activity is and adherence to local bylaws.

Hello Ardent, I fully understood/stand the critique of RC and his comment.
But, I digress.
I best go and try and find a gravel pit that is 401 M from the center line of the roads I used to travel and dig out some snow to try my Kimber out.
It certainly will not get the exposure Wheland Lads does, but it will bark.
Tight Groups,
Rob

We have to change this irresponsible culture and not accept it any longer

As for those of you criticizing the length of my videos
You're right and I appreciate that feedback
Especially true regarding the target audience

With your permission Riflechair, I'd like to add a link to your video in the description of my video I made a few days back on this very subject.

It's less complicated than you assume.

One finds a safe place to shoot. One hangs about until it's dark out, then one gets on with one's fun and target shooting.

It isn't about whanging shots off into the dark at random. And I resent your associating our behavior, with that of the slobs shooting signs.

See, easy.

In my case, most of the shooting I have done at night has been on my property, working towards legally eliminating predators that have been killing livestock. I know what the surrounds are, I know what the backdrop is, and as strange as it may seem, I can see fairly well in the area, to know that nobody has wandered into my zone. Which would generally result in a call to the Police anyways, to remove a trespasser. The crown Land I shoot on, is part of that great big empty space that makes up the vast majority of this Province, and I know it well enough to say that I and my company, are alone but for whatever crawls between the rocks when I do shoot at night, if I do so.

Funny thing about the Laws. They tell us what we cannot normally do, more than what we can. You have to find where it says we can not. Stirring the poo over night shooting, based on the presumption that the same vandals that are already breaking laws by destroying property, and making something ELSE illegal to add to the Laws that will be readily ignored by same, is not going to solve anything. It does, however, add more fuel to the already well established Anti-firearms sentiment, if you so choose to fan that particular fire.

It won't solve the problem, which is, essentially, a culture amongst a group of people that are not particularly Law Abiding anyways.

If I have anything negative to say about the video Riflechair made, it is that he ASSUMES because the signs are reflective, they were shot at in the dark. Great. A wild assumption, to link Vandalism to somehow having it's root cause to the night shooting. Nice. Any proof of that other than a guess pulled out of yer arse Riflechair?
Here's my assumption. They shot the signs because they were right there and easy. Same as the rest of the stuff they shot. Slobs. Being slobs.

So, in a nutshell, be careful who you throw under the bus. When it's you they come for, there may not be anyone to stand up for you.

Y'all have a great day!

Hi Trev - They are doing this at night and daytime. I know thanks to unofficial conversation.
I don't assume anything

Excellent quote, do the right thing because it is right, how many on this site will claim to be a law abiding firearms owner but will speed, run stop signs and cheat their taxes every chance they get just to name a few items, And if they are caught breaking the law will blame the cop or the government instead of themselves, you are either law abiding or not. Nobody has ever been sort of pregnant, if everyone held themselves to a higher standard could you imagine how different this country would be.

I don't recall if this quote if from "A Sand County Almanac" but, it is a fantastic book that everyone should read.

What you just said is profoundly true.

Amen. Pretty much how the country rolls these days.

I hate seeing a mess in the bush if you ever bin to the Zoo ( cranberry junction ) or the Nass after the pine mushroom season what a mess yuck

My friend and I spent an afternoon cleaning up where we would shoot. We took out five bags of garbage. We found a sheet of plywood and an almost empty spray paint can. I painted on the plywood "Please be respectful and remove your trash".
We went to a late lunch and decided to go back out for some late shooting (we were trying to get pictures of the fireball at the muzzle) before the sun set. The sign was on fire and garbage was everywhere.

We decided to shoot somewhere else, found a decent spot and started to clean it up. Found a truck dumpbed that we put all the items to big to remove and bagged garbage in. We were doing pretty good over the weeks and the bed was almost full until the day we went out and people had decided to remove all the bags and start to shoot all the garbage we picked up. Within a year the area was closed.

Some shooters are "Shooters of opportunity", as in "hey let's shoot that". Nothing wrong with it, just take it out when your done. It only takes a second to be better than the dork that left it.
