Im looking to buy ONE or the other and after hours of researching on-line/video reviews of both guns i figured I would ask the ever knowledgeable CGN members for some help. Which one and why? Any lucky soul have both? and if so which one gets used the most?

thanks for the help

JTF2 uses the p226. That should be reason enough (it is for me!) aside from the fact that its mega awesome. Look up the sig p226 elite dark model. Its like ... orgasm. that is all.
Anyway my personal opinion. Get the sig :D

Just do it.

I have owned both. I have shot both in competition. They both come in different versions so you have to decide which version of trigger control group suits you best for your purposes. Do you like plastic better, or metal ? You must at least hold both in your hands. The controls might be hard to reach or manipulate for your hand size and this might instantly rule out one or the other. When you hold them both in your hands, I assure you, you will have a definite preference. That will be the one to get. Simple. One is not better than the other. Just different.

My vote goes for the SIG I own a 226 and 220. Both have outstanding quality, ergonomics, and rep. The only problem I have with them is they are such a pleasure to shoot I have a hard time feeding them!!!

Both are really good quality though I'd have to say the Sig's are more ergonomically shaped and usually cost a little less too I've got 2 of em cause I like em so much!

My boss and I were playing hookey a few years back and found ourselves in the gun shop. He bought the Sig, I bought the HK. I got the USP .45 Tactical and have never looked back. It's deadly accurate, has adjustable sights and shoots like a dream.

The Sigs are nice too. Flip a coin or buy them both, neither will disappoint you.

Go to Target Sports and try them both out

Had a 226 and a 220 and waiting for my USP45 to transfer over. They are different guns, but similar in many ways; both sit high in the hand, have similar slide profiles etc, similar price...

I'd consider Beretta as CZ as well... I still have those ;)

i have a usp (in .40) and have fired the p226. i find the usp a bit akward as the grips seem too small for the slide and my hands, but i added a rubber grip to fix that (but i still can't hit anything with it) and it also tends to jam, but i think thats a mag related issue, which is a shame cuz they are really expensive mags compared to glocks and sigs. other wise very nice, has the external safety and de-cocker, the trigger is a little loose when cocked but easy to control.

the p226 was a very nice nice gun to say the least, and as someone else mentioned arts are cheaper and easier to find than HK parts. accurate and reliable i dont think you can go wrong either way. If you want to use jack bauer as a reference he used both the HK and Sig.

I say Sig. it has better ergo's for me and i like the way it shoots. if you have the opportunity to try both obviously do it. But i liked the sig better than the usp which is quickly becoming a safe queen..

This my opinion only from my experiences, it is up to you to make your own!

They feel very different and their operating controls are very different too.

Both pistols have excellent reputations. Both pistols have their ardent supporters. Both pistols are used by elite troops around the globe.

Only you can know which you'll prefer for your hands and your intended uses. Don't buy either until you've handled them both.

Will you be reloading your own ammo or purchasing factory?

I prefer guns with lands and grooves rifling over polygonal rifling so I can feed them my lead reloads. To me, this favours the Sig 226.

I have owned both, 2 totaly different feeling guns.
i could not get over how bulky the usp was, and i normaly a glock guy, so that says alot.
Id prob go with a sig if i have a chance to buy one or the other again.
