Well my long awaited (...3 years was it?) Remington 700P is finally here (done by HWMNBN, and a wonderful job at that)! Trigger is tuned to a crisp 3lbs, and I got a notched swivel Versa-Pod to go with it (still trying to figure the whole thing out, but all in all it's pretty decent). I'll post pics when I can!

One question though: (I really don't know much about what I'm saying here)
The Versapod's "mount" (what you attach the Versa-Pod to) is a bit rattly; how would I go about tightening it?

Now I can finally get my butt kicked in Precision Rifle matches!

That's what you get for buying chinese products!Just kidding! glad to see your rifle is in!Have you gotten yourself an M24 from TIS yet?

Another way to mount a PH or Versapod is to mount a spigot in the end of the stock. Then there is no large block hung on the bottom of the forend. This leaves the botton of the forend clean for shooting off a rest. Of course, the factory mounting block can be used as a handstop, if shooting with a target type sling.

I had some serious problems with the versapod mount on my 700LTR. there was too much give at first into the stock and it ended up breaking the swivel studs underneath the mount.

I ended up having to get a reinforced custom machined swivel stud put into and onto the stock so that I could get a strong and tight connection between the bipod and stock.

You realize that now we can't make quite as much fun of you, don't you?

Poor Riley!:D

Congrats on the new rifle, now get out and get some trigger time.

By the handstop being rattly are you meaning it does not snug up to the stock? If so a 1/4" flat washer between the locking nut and the handstop solved this on 1 of mine. No more movement.
The 2 knurled knobs on the bipod adjust the tension on the mounting stud and knuckle also eliminating the slop.
Congrats on the gun, you will enjoy it, they are accurate and pleasant to shoot.

Slavex: It's probably just that, but I'll try that 1/4" washer idea (thanks KnockKnock).
tiriaq: Spigot? Could you give me some more info?

Nope :(.

Steve: Thanks! I know, I've been asking questions about this thing for quite a while, but it was worth it!

cerickson: I'm still not decided on the Versapod vs. Harris; I might exchange it still.

dan: Thanks! I sure will!

B.U.M: Yep, I know :D. Heh, now Riley's gonna get all the heat. As soon as I scope this thing, I'm gonna be shooting it like it's going out of fashion. However, you guys will be able to make fun of me for losing precision rifle matches though :D.

mdbuckle: Pics to come tonight (when I can get ahold of a camera)!

knockknock: Yeah, it's not snug to the stock; it keeps rattling around. I'll try the washer idea though, thanks.

Question though: Does the bipod mount have to be tightened to a certain amount of ft-lbs though? And also, I have the opportunity to switch the Versa for a Harris; what do you guys think?

Thanks a lot!

The Versapod mounting block has a spigot onto which the bipod slides. A similar piece is mounted into the end of the forestock. If you send me your email address by PM, I'll send you a photo of a rifle with this sort of bipod mount.

Am I missing something here, 3 yrs to get a 700P?

Haha no it wasn't the wait time, it was how long it took me to save up for the bloody thing (I'm pretty young and I've never had an employed job before the army which I joined 4 months ago).

Yes sir! A very proud member.
Thank you very much! I appreciate the encouragement.
I'm only doing militia until I get out of highschool, but I'm looking to go 3PPCLI sometime after a deployment and who knows, maybe I'll go on from there.

Thanks,
