ive been stalking this pistol for a long while now and it finally arrived today!!!!
soooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited with this gun!

and its a freak'n huge monster!!!!!

Glock 40 Gen4 MOS 10mm!!!!!!

i had no idea it was so much bigger than the G17!
its bigger through the grip, its massive on the slide, wider and thicker!
its just a MONSTER!

i compare it to my G19 and my G17C and its just big and solid!

so looking forward to getting this to the range and feeling the power of the 10mm hand cannon!

anyways, just wanted to share my joy, here's a couple pic's of the beast with my G17C and my G19, im heading out to the shop to take it down and clean it up and G96 it in prep for when my ammo arrives!
i may even make up a quick video to try to show just how much bigger this gun is, i was truly surprised by it!

oh no, still a M&P guy but i totally respect the Glocks for what they are.
they just dont feel as nice in my hand as my M&P but some times i get that itch to step out on my M&P's, haha!

i was caught between a 1911 10mm and the G40, finally decided to go with the Glock.
price made a HUGE factor as well, i was lucky enough to qualify for the Glock IOP program so getting 20% off sure makes the sale a lot easier!

as for a RMR i dont think im gonna put one on the G40.
i have one on my M&P and i like it but im concerned that the 10mm might have a little too much zip in the old G force department for a RMR.
specially since i plan to reload my 10mm hot like they are suppose to be.

Nice gun even though I'm not a fan of the Glocks. I've always liked the long-barrelled semis -- just can't afford them.

I don't think a high quality RMR, like the Trijicon, Leupold or C-More will have issues. I also like the look of one balancing off the long slide. Either way, congrats on a good purchase!
Post a range report when you can.

That thing needs a modern polymer stock/holster that attaches to the changeable back-strap location like the old C96, Luger and Highpower's!

so it took a while but i finally was able to get out with my new G40 and blaze away all morning.
that gun is a DREAM!

i started with the G19 then moved up to the G17C then went into the G40 - i wanted to see how much of a difference there was between the 9mm and 10mm.
and i gotta be honest i didnt notice a difference.

now, i know these store bought 10mm are wimp loads, i have some 'bear defense' loads coming up from the states right now so ill get to try some spicy rounds here within the next couple of weeks.

but for first initial impressions between the 9mm and 10mm i didnt notice any difference.
i was expecting the gun to pinwheel out of the hand and cave in my forehead and the guy behind me with all the talk about the recoil and such you read on line.
but i didnt notice anything.
its probably a lot to do with the long barrel and heavy slide of the G40 id assume.

my dad was out with me and he did the same progression i did up through the 9mm Glocks to the 10mm Glock and he said the same, was no real noticeable difference.
and wow does he like that G40 for feel!
he has big hands and he LOVES the feel of the G40.
im gonna have to search his bags when he goes to leave for home to make sure he dosnt try to pocket the pistol!
he enjoyed that 10mm so much he is saying he is gonna pick one up - i think he had already made that decision because he already has a S&W 1076 lined up from a friend of his.

anyways, first range trip with the G40 and i must say that the gun is fantastic!
so smooth to shoot.
and super easy to get nice tight groups with.
has to be that long barrel and slide.

my dad said he shot a G20 years ago and he said that had a lot more flip to it, the G40 definitely had next to none in comparison he said.

but i did notice one thing, while i like the adjustable factory Glock sights after shooting my G19 with suppressor sights just before it i really want to swap out the sights for some extra high ones.
my old eyes just find them so much easier to use.
im thinking some of those fiber optic / tritium hybrid sights in suppressor height would fit the bill just perfectly.
im also gonna get a longer threaded barrel for it and add one a comp - in preparation for reloading some spicy rounds!

if anyone is looking to step up to a more powerful round id definitely recommend looking into the G40.
10mm with the reliability of Glock - ya cant go wrong!

like i said before, i was torn between the G40 and the Delta Elite 1911 for my first 10mm and im pretty happy with my choice.

sorry no range pics.
was just pure joy of shooting day with the old man - no flash photography.

Dimensionally, is this firearm essentially a long slide G21 (.45acp chamber)?

My understanding is that it's a longslide G20 specifically as the longslide .45ACP uses a narrower slide, but I believe the G40 uses the big honking G20 slide just an inch or so longer.
