It's just the lighting. I saw that too. It's funny because the original shots don't look like that.

I have an HP-9 with the S&J sling plate and wood police furniture on it. I found the finishing to be pretty decent for a cheap shotgun... +1 extension is on its way, one without a plate.

Do they stock one with a sling mounting plate and if so who did you get it from? I haven't found one yet.
