This is the latest I've got through our civilian channels (sp?) :eek:

CFSAC 2006 is happening during 22-29 July 2006.

For you LEO and CF Pers, it's rumoured that I'll be running things in butts ! Now, remember, all this information is through our CGN civilian sources. :rolleyes: Take it for what it's worth. :rolleyes:

This is not for civilians correct? Just military and law enforcement members (active)? The DCRA July service conditions in July/Ottawa is the Nationals for civilians?

Actually the conduct and support will be very simular to the way the DCRA NSCC is run. The old format of matches 1 - 12, stage 1 and stage 2 for all arms will be used. Stand by for current rules when avalible. The only matches not held are the sniper matches which have been moved to Gagetown. The "new version of CFSAC" will not happen this year (or any other year hopefully). And yes the huge support element will not be present.

Lets just be thankful to the powers to be that are getting this of the ground and bringing back CFSAC.

CFSAC 2006 is only for military and RCMP pers.

Civvies and other LE can shoot at the DCRA's NSCC the week before on July 14 - 19.

Just keeping things in the positive, must thank Hungry for giving the well in advance heads up on dates.
Anyone seen any official messages from the military side ?
I just remember the negativtiy from quite a few of the CGN members who lambasted the DCRA for keeping the reserve Queens alive when CFSAC was cancelled.
And even if there are changes and its not the same as the old days did we stop going when they changed rifles, .303 to the FNC1 to the C7, no we're going to have fun shooting, and add in a little competitive spirit.

Although it has been announced or rumoured to be announced, there are significant hurdles to be passed before it actually happens. I will have a better picture in Jan when we allocate funding for the Western Area competition which will select our teams for CFSAC. I have two meeting to attend in Jan on this but I would not be booking any tickets anytime soon. Op tempo is killing the possiblity of CFSAC happening as most would envision. I would give it 50/50 right now. If it does happen, it will lack significant involvement from the areas. We will be lucky if we can make it through the summer IT cycle. I will keep the forum advised as it progresses.

For record, the CLS decided that old CFSAC is out until the new CFSAC comes online. All info I have received suggests this is still the view and what LFDTS staffed "Competitions" are working towards. I was at an army level meeting before Christmas which also confirmed this. Again as noted above I will advise from the inside track since I am the OPI for Western Canada for both Reg and Res participation.

I forgot to add. I would be very surprised if the old style CFSAC ran. The briefings I attending at the army level strongly indicate old CFSAC is dead....permanently. I will keep you all posted.

What can you tell me about western selection and participation Jeff?Does western mean east of the rockies or will BC shooters get a fair crack too?We always seem to be left out out here.39 cbg never seems to care about participation.Might there be money alotted to bring shooters out this year?
 
Well, I have to brief the Comd of LFWA on my concept soon after returning to work. It will be everyone west of Thunder Bay. Instruction and dates will be on the street by the third week of Jan if we have any hope of making it happen. The bottom line is with all the operational deployments and push for IT training this summer, it will be very difficult to garner support for a small arms competition. That being said, we have to let things run its course and do the estimate and not presuppose it. The Comd will make the call for LFWA. The simple reality is there is too much on the plate right now from an area perspective but it is up to the Comd to set priorities, with any luck, a Western Area Small Arms Competition might be up there....

I don't have a funding model yet. I am hoping to have ammo and funds to give to each CBG to cover funding and training of a team. I do not know how much I will receive. Ideally I will have funding to pay for the competition, attendees, and the cost of sending two reg and two res teams to CFSAC. Not sure how it will break out right now. I will advise as it presents itself.

It would appear that DAT is going to try to get something off the ground by July,, but as Morpheus states,, the hurdles are immense. I have marked it on my calender but I will believe it only when the first round goes down range.

That's great ! Keep the information coming ! I'm glad everyone on this forum is happy to dispel fact from rumour even if funding is sketchy at best. :eek:

Nothing worse than all kinds of speculation flying around that leads to inaccurate conclusions and then subsequent finger pointing and then sour tastes in the mouths. :confused:

In the meantime, we in the DCRA / ORA side of things hope that NSCC on 14-19 July will be productive and helpful to CF members since that is part of our Mission Statement. :cool:

CFSAC 2006 is not funded and will not happen. Unless the CDS or CLS suddenly takes a keen and immediate interest, it is dead. The SORD for 06/07 does not have funds allocated and I confirmed with DAT. Sorry.

I have asked for confirmation on CFSAC 2007 by September 2006 so we can begin planning and training. I will advise as it progresses. Cheers

That is unfortunate,, but not unexpected at this late date.

Having confirmation of the Army's plan for 2007 made known by the fall of 2006 would be a good thing,, particulary if they stay with the intent of Brigades and Areas conducting Stage 1 matches before CFSAC actual.

The DCRA NSCC is still on the go for this year,, and I will be in attendance.

According to the proposal, Areas, not reserve Bdes would conduct the qualification matches prior to CFSAC. I will advise as we work on the plan. I am unfortunately posted from my present job this summer so I will loose my SA on the subject in the summer....

Just received an email from the NSCC chairperson indicating that CFSAC '06 is indeed cancelled and that they are looking into possibly allowing the QM for the Regular Force to be issued as well.
 
Same here recieved an Email from Kieth C that CFSAC 2006 has been canacelled here is the E Mail I recieved

"I have just received word from the DCRA that CFSAC 2006 has been cancelled. Capt Tibbetts is trying to get the Regular Force QM presented as a result of NSCC."
