Just checked the RCMP webpage and my RPAL has been approved and should be in my grubby little paws within 2 weeks.

:adult:

It feels so damn good. Can't afford any new toys for a while but.... hot damn! :)

Well... I think to start, I'm going to keep it simple. I really like the M&P9 and that is likely what I will start with. I'd like to get a hold of an STI Spartan also in 9mm. And then to round it out, I'm thinking a GSG with the mock suppressor just for giggles. I think those three will be great solid learning guns that should last me a life time at a reasonable price.

After that... a real 1911 .45 is on the must have list. Single action wheel gun.... ah hell, is it wrong that I WANT TO OWN THEM ALL? lol!

Woo hoo! Congrats!

Just wanted to share in your excitement as I just checked the RCMP website to learn that I too am now licensed to own firearms!
Also leaning towards an M&P9 as I have a friend wanting to part with his.

On a side note; how long does it take to get access to the EE once you've applied?
Nevermind, answered my own question by re-reading the EE rules.

"Equipment Exchange approval may take up to 5 working days to complete."

Got the visa warmed up and ready to go!!! Sounds like this hobby will turn out more expensive than the motorcycles

Hi - can you let me know your timeline with RCMP please, i.e. when your application was sent, when it 1st appeared on-line to what date you were approved?

Mine was sent on 31 Jan and still nothing showing on-line, I'm so excited I can't tell you, having moved from the UK 7 months ago where we wer'nt allowed to own any restricted type firearms I can't believe i'll soon be in a position to purchase and own!! Happy days....

I'm also leaning towards a m&p9 range & carry (for starters)!

Thanks.

Hi Stokesey, I recommend reading through this thread, the advice on speeding up the approval process seemed to work for me.

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=464083

I did the course on the 28/29 of November, sent the application registered mail on the 4th of December, RCMP received it on the 6, interviewed and references interviewed first week of January. Jan 19 received a letter from RCMP requesting a letter from my doctor because I had answered yes to the medical question on the application. Took a little bit to get the letter but was approved the same day the rcmp received it. February 15, I was officially licensed to possess and acquire firearms! :dancingbanana:

Now to do the same as Import and sell 1 of the 2 wheeled contraptions in the garage to finance burnt money downrange :ar15:

Hi - I sent mine 31st Jan (xpress post) and it was received on 6th Feb and signed for by D Brown, so I know it's definitely arrived. I've already phoned twice to ask why I can't see any progress on-line, they tell me it's probably in a pile waiting to be processed!

My credit card hasn't been charged as yet either, maybe they're just having a busy spell?

So, I was thinking of buying online as they are the most competitively priced. I assume the order of events would be something like this:

1. Await PAL
2. Purchase firearm online
3. Join shooting club
4. Get Short term ATT to collect from post office
5. Phone Alberta CFO and request Long Term ATT

Is that about it?

Many thanks.

Mine was received Jan 12, processed and Issued last Thursday Feb 16. Been checking the mailbox every day this week but nothing yet. Hopefully tomorrow! I can’t wait. My first pistol is already purchased and waiting for me at Wanstalls. The ####ty thing is that even if it comes tomorrow, I wont be able to get the ATT in time to pick it up for the weekend, soooooo I am gonna get me a.......... Shotgun. That should sweeten the wait.

I'm jelly man, I'm still waiting for mine. I already have a glock and 1911 in my sights and planning an AR build. Seems i have picked an expensive hobby. Can't wait
