get so fricken busy doing stupid crap, I find I dont have much time to go shooting and when I do I get kinda spread out over the few guns I dont need, so I dont get to shoot my custom 260 as much as Id like (often I wish I only owned this one rifle)

Im embarrased to say I didnt get it truly sighted in until today..it's almost halloween! :( Ive been carrying my 30-06 and Titanium 260 most of this fall, only this past week have I gotten to play with my Gaillard 260 (since mid summer), and boy I am glad I did :D

Loaded up some 125 grain Nosler Partitions over enough H4350 to break the 2900 fps mark. Accuracy is decent, seems to shoot better as the distance grows further.

Got it between 2.5 & 3" high @ 100 meters, and then tried it at 200 meters (220y). Fired a few shots (basically zero'd) then tried it at 300 meters (335y), and fired a few more - drop was only 8 inches, and the group is like a bit under 2" for 3 shots (not bad for a fixed 6x scope!). I'm pretty happy with how things went, I'll definetely be carrying it for the rest of deer season - hopefully I'll get lucky enough to get a nice buck with it before the end of November :)

200 & 300m

I shot a round into a chunk of firewood @ 40 yards and dug it out, it penetrated 11 inches and retained 85% of its weight (which I found quite high for a Partition!)

Very nice Todd. What's the barrel length/profile? all up weight as pictured? Did Ted do the work, or did you order the tube and then ship it all to another 'smith?

... that is excellent for a Partition - particularly at about 2850+/- fps into a log...maybe the front jacket is a little tougher than is often the case with Partitions... usually nothing but the "plug" behind the partition = 55-60% weight remaining (or less). Wonder if the 6.5mm diameter partition is a little different that others?

23 inches long (couldnt decide whether to go 22 or 24" :p), it is a magnum sporter profile. I think its around 8.5 lbs with the Leupold FXIII in talley rings (although I am on order with McMillan for a mtn rifle stock). Ted did all the work (blueprint action, chamber it, install, flute, bead blast. The stock it sits in now really isnt even bedded!

nice. I've got a BDL in .22-250 sitting in a laminated mt. rifle stock, and I'm thinking it's time to think about a 1-8" tube- something I can sling 75 amax and 62-70 TSX's through... Sure would be nice to have Ted do the whole thing. I'll give him a call to discuss, but what's Ted like to work with?

Very nice & Yup ... you need to "get busy"
Is that rifle even "blooded" yet ???

Good results with the Partitions ... tried the 130 Accubonds ?

I was quite impressed with Sierra's 85 HP's and Hornadys V-Max 95's in the
6.5 for varmints ... but they're not exactly "pelt friendly"

I tried the 130 Accubonds with so-so results at 100 meters, but I didnt try them at longer distances (I should have)

I've killed a couple things with the gun

Tod ... nice assortment of critters ! ... glad you're getting some use out of it !
Methinks you get a chance to do a little more hunting than you seem to let on ???

Surprised the Accubonds weren't up to snuff ! My 25-06 seems to like the Ballistic Tips best, followed closely by Accubonds then Partitions ... all will group under an inch at 200, but the BT's consistantly stay tightest. Maybe a primer or powder switch ? Can't say as I've ever found anything that was so-so at 100 become any better farther out ... but let us know !

Tod, 2900 fps - how's that for pressure? I haul a .260 myself and have grown fond of the 130 grn TSX, which pushes around 2800 fps with a top load of 43 grns of H4350. I've found 48.5 grns of H4831 (compressed load) to be a nice perfomer with 125 grn Ptn.

pressure seems fine

48.0 grains H4831sc with the 125 NP does 2890 fps in my rifle and shoots about as well as the H4350 load

43 grains H4350 with the 130 TSX does about 2850 fps in my rifle too, and shoots great

Used the Partitions on my Whitie last year....awesome Lil Bullet.
Changed things up this year to play with the TSX and very similar performance on my Buck from awhile back.
Never recovered a bullet yet but very impressive wound channels and Dead deer.
Glad to see you've stopped pissing around and are back to the Cartridge of Champions:cool:

Happy Hunting !
