I've found my "all around" hunting load in .35 Whelen! *PICS of my rifle ADDED*

Jeff,This is the 3rd .35 Whelen I've owned.(Love the calibre for moose.)The other 2 were 7600's.I think I'll try to hang onto this one.Trigger is a bit stiff but other than that it is quite a nice rifle.Looks like the 1 Supercub has listed in the EE.Have fun with your rifle. Bac4

BAC4,

Thanks, man.

The Remington 7600 has fascinated me for awhile now...I'm sure I'll end up with one eventually.

Here are some pictures of mine...

I really like the "wraparound" checkering on the forestock...

I added the Limbsaver...I found it beat me up pretty good while testing loads from the bench.

Those Limbsavers are very good pads. I am putting one on my 375/338 when it gets back from the gun doktor.

I have one on my CDL and was VERY surprised at how easy it was to shoot compared to my 7600 with the hard plastic butt plate. Why Remington refuses to put decent pads on the 7600s in beyond me.

Hi Jeff/1911
Very nice rifle - a real beaut with good glass. That'll get the job done all right.

Just wonderin though - the 700classic/35Whelen came with iron sights - did U take off the iron sights? If so why? My 700classic/35Whelen has the original irons which I like as backup.

Also do you know what order number Limbsaver is the best fit for the classic stock do you think?

Whelen B,

This rifle did not have the irons on it when I bought it. I'm not sure which number this Limbsaver is, but I'll look to see if I still have the box at home...in any case P&D has em' - that's where I got this one. :)

Why not put one on your 7600 then? It's not like recoil pads can't be added at your expense ;)

I was able to shoot is well enough w/o the pad, but did eventually put a thin Decelerator on it, mostly to keep it from slipping on the floor.

Even a rubber butt pad is better than those hard plastic things. :)

I remember reading last week that some guy couldnt justify spending 50.00 on a piece of rubber... Must have been a rimfire shooter. I have about 4 R3/Limbsavers on various rifles, and they're worth their weight in gold on a rifle with heavy or even moderate recoil.
