My SVT-40 arrived. Like my recent SKS purchases I really had no idea what I was getting until it arrived. I bought it from SFRC and only asked that it have a decent bore, stock and a 12 port muzzle break if possible. They came through in spades, props to SFRC
She's a 1941 Tula refurb. I'm pretty sure there's a square stamped above the Tula star on the receiver bridge, indicating a SVT-38 conversion, except the bridge looks more square than rectangular. Over at mosinnagant.net it says the SVT-38 has a longer, rectangular receiver bridge, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
The other thing I'm wondering about is the stock. Do I have an AVT stock ? If it is, should I be pleased ? At first glance I was happy to see a naval stock, but then I saw the notch on the right side. What does the A on the right butt stock mean ? The stock matches the receiver serials. It doesn't look to be stamped over anywhere. Is it possible this stock actually matches ?
Anyway, really pleased. I haven't cleaned it yet. The bore looks dark, but can see strong rifling so hopefully she cleans up nice.
