Iver Johnson American Bulldog revolver

just got a reply seems Higginson does not carry true black powder and offer Pyrodex or triple 7 substitutes instead, waiting on the reply from hummason

Shipping BP now is a problem, it is considered an explosive not a propellant.

Try calling your local gun shop and see if they can get it in, then go out further and further.

My local shop can get it but he has to drive to go pick it up as no courier will take it from the depot.

My son has a love for Repro BP rifles and asks if I have it to spare about once a year.
" No lad, you use the substitute BP in them "

over the weekend loaded up some rounds using Pyrodex, this is the specs I am working from, cylinder length 1.245" depth of chamber to inner step 0.88" the chamber is 0.465" dia and the front 0.440" dia, for brass Im using 44mag cut to 0.70" overall length with thinned rim to 0.045 thick, lead is cast using a home made CNC mold, nose profile as a 45ACP, the back end is reduced for 0.10" long tight in brass, powder filled to give 0.05" compaction, the lead is set to give OAL of 1.10"

the brass could be cut longer to say 0.90" but cutting to 0.70" it works in my other revolver. this was from a old spec for 44 Webley round.

lead is cast at 0.430 diameter 204gr

as for shooting works quite well, only loaded 10 rounds to get a feel for it, any comments or feedback is as always appreciated.
