Hey everyone,

I’ve heard a few people at the range recently talking about the X95 and how we receive a different model than the Americans get. A few questions for people who may know;

- Are IWI Isreal X95’s actually higher quality than the American counterpart?
- Do the reported accuracy issues with American X95’s also impact the rifles we receive?

The US rifles require a minimum number of parts to be made in the US. It doesn't matter which parts these are, so they are likely things that are largely insignificant. The Tavors use a pile of roll-pins to hold the action in the polymer shell, these are probably all American. I believe they've stated the Barrels on American guns are Israeli.

That depends on what you consider to be an accuracy issue. I get 2-2.5MOA at 100m using military ball ammunition and a holosun red dot. I've had it do slightly better with match grade ammunition. That's about on par with every AR15 I've owned, and it's fairly similar to MAC's result. (Though I find I have less flyers, it performs very consistently).

There has also been a few minor generational upgrades, which I suspect improves the accuracy somewhat from the first runs.

The only difference I’ve noticed at different shops, is the American one comes with bayonet lug, which is pretty cool to me, and the Israeli one comes with a soft case. So the only difference is what the buyer prefers.

False. The regulation specifies which parts must be majority US made, and they are all major, firearm specific components.

I stand corrected. Looking into it, the US SARs came with a 922r warning, on what parts not to replace with imported parts, items like flash hiders and hammers

An IWI rep on a forum stated the Israeli-made parts for us guns are:

1. Receiver
2. Barrel
3. Barrel Extension
4. Bolt
5. Bolt Carrier
6. Operating Rod
7. Trigger Housing
8. Buttstock/Pistol Grip (we are not sure if this counts as one or two parts)
9. Forearm

So basically everything of consequence

Why do you think my opinion of that will change how I feel about the plasticky Tavor with the silly ergonomics?

I owned both. The Tavor had some flimsy characteristics, but the X95 actually feels rock solid. Or maybe you just don't like plastic in general? You're not going to like much, if that's the case.

Not sure what's meant by the silly ergonomics. I found both the Tavor and the X95 to be downright intuitive despite having used AR15s almost exclusively for over a decade. Bullpups in general are going to present a hurdle to anyone resistant to learning, no matter how well thought out.

IMO, nothing that IWI (or indeed any Israeli small arms related company) produces is better than average at best.

However they seem to be more savvy than average when it comes to product improvement, not to mention marketing, and I think that they'll eventually become a dominant force in the industry.
