Not just that it's curved but it also has a locking assembly which locks the handle/ rod in the fully forward position. It also pulls the handle in closer to the rifle body in the locked and forward position.

Just as a note, you will also need the female portion of the locking assembly which wraps around the barrel and is held together with a roll pin.
