Izh Tigr 7.62 - the best hunting rifle I have seen.

Its been a while, but what I remember it is heavy, magazine sticks out significantly the whole thing is bulky, safety is very... huge, noisy out of the way to operate. And it ruins brass.

So for hunting against Bellini R1, Browning BAR, FNAR, Sauer 303 which are... unrestricted here :) Small detail.

Yikes. Could you have four uglier rifles? I personally would love to have a Tigr. While it may be a somewhat crude rifle, It's at least a lot more elegant that the rifles mentioned. The FNAR... :puke:

Unfortunately it is prohibited by name, and likely because of it's relation with the AK and it's generally "evil" appearance.

I bet if they prohibited Rem 770 by name, people would drool all over on forums. Looking at an image of stuff you can't have makes it magically attractive.

Same here, honestly.

I liked the one I tried in Chukotka.

Lots of oomph in the 7.62 x 54R cartridge.

Just came back from Russia where I had a chance to play with Izh Tigr hunting rifle (http://www.izhmash.ru/eng/product/tigr.shtml).
It is just perfect!
Why we cannot have it here? Only because somebody doesn't like it's name or because other brands don't want to have a real competitor on the market?

:(

Would not be my first choice, there are better options closer to home..

You need to look at a lot more rifles if that's the "best hunting rifle I have seen"

X2. You either haven't seen many actual hunting rifles or you have no experience hunting. These things are not hunting rifles, they are long, heavy and awkward. The military stock design places the hands in the wrong relationship to the bore and you don't need a ten round mag for hunting(unless you're hunting men). A side by side comparison with a good sporting bolt action with proper scope mounting for ease of carry, speed of target acquisition and fit would should the Russian's glaring faults for a hunting rifle. My 2 cents.

Wow sht on a guy for liking a gun ,He said, HE like , Any gun can be used for hunting ,some better for hunting,if it was available ,I would like to shoot it, Hell back in the day when we had more freedom my friend used his AK deer hunting
