Sounds good, to the kitchen I go....

How long does it need to soak ?

Take the bolt apart, extractor, firing pin before hand, don't want the springs soaking in vinegar.. you will want to use 0000 steel wool after to shine it up. 10m - 20 min should do it. Vinegar is an acid so rinse it off with water and dry after to stop it's action.

Thanks for the idea BTW.

Hopefully my sling from Numrich gun parts shows up soon, The sling included was a mosin sling and it doesn't look right on the SVT

Another hobby of mine is vintage lantern collecting… Vinegar is used to clean up rust and stains without harming the original metal. No need to spend good money on expensive bs products, when you can use vinegar.

Actually, when you get a gold bolt, I think it looks ###y. Plumb? Not so much BUT a really really really dark plump looks BLACK and those ones look good. Brown? Ugly. In the white always looks good. You can get quite a few combinations....
