Since I've been a good boy in 2005  , Santa said I should me get another rifle... So after two years of looking at them, I finally got one of those crank action russian 22lr.

It looks a little odd, having classic "hunter" type of stock with biathlon front/rear peep-sight... The rear is mounted on a 11mm rail, so I could use my Anschutz sight should I want to.

The factory insert were not that great, but thankfully, it is the same size as Anschutz's. So it now wears Slim line insert. I should take a picture from the front, IZHMASH has a different way of crowning a barrel!

This model even comes with a box full of goodies!

I took it out to the range last night... It shoots pretty good, from the prone position on "sporting" target, I was getting 98-99/100. My girlfriend even had to show off by borrowing it and doing a perfect 100... Ho well, she might just have to get her own.

What I like;
- accurate
- smooth action
- peep-sight

What I do not like as much...
- The "hunter" type stock... The cheek piece is too low for me.
- The ugly looking mistery plastic magazine. The work 100%, but I still not a big fan of plastic magazines.

Anybody else using these? I'm thinking that it might just replace my Anschutz 190 in the sporting gun role...

Safe shooting,
Mike.

Yes they came with the rifle. I think they were selling the rings from the rifle kits after as demand arose. I bought a LOS 308 rifle also, it's supposed to come with those rings but it did not :(

OMG Sillymike congrats on your purchase. You'll love it !!!!! :D

Speckfire,

That's a nice stock, I wish they would have offered that model with the peep-sight! What kind of rail is on your rifle? 11mm or 3/8"?

Safe shooting,
Mike.

Actually I measured it and it's 9mm on the nose. So I guess it's closer to 3/8".

Tried mine on Friday. It has some very good potential, once it's broken in.
Only downside is that the front sight locking collar and rear target sight iris use a courser thread than the standard Anschütz thread. I'll have to get a meteric thread guage to see what it is. :)

I did manage a ragged 5 shot one holer with having shot any rifle since October

I wish Valery and Lena the best of luck in their future endeavours.

New Importation

I've been working with one of the dealers here to try and bring in a few of the Izmash Biathlon Basic 7-2KO models directly from Izmash in Russia.

It's looking like it can be done, but the lead time on these rifles is going to be about 3 months and the price is going to be about $875-$950 each.

I'm trying to get a group together so that we can do a bulk buy to make it worthwhile for everyone involved, so if you are interested in one of these rifles (at this price point) and want to join in please PM me so that I can organize the bulk purchase with the dealer.

Here's some model details but just do a google search on this rifle to learn more.

Coincidence.

I just tried mounting an older German made Zeiss 4x32 on after removing the rear diopter sight to see if I could still see anything past the huge front sight assembly of the Biathlon.
It's usable. My brother wanted to try out the combo on his Ishmash for small game soon.
looks like we will sight in his on Friday night.
