izhmash distributor

I still own one but I did have two izhmash biatholon rifles at one time. They are quite accurate but look crude hehehe, last I saw the price was up just over 700 canadian for one from a canadian dealer. The shop will come to me in a minute or two

Cool, Dave. I'm looking to acquire one of these as a "cheap" alternative to an Annie. :D

On a related note, what would be a quality BR 22LR rifle? I'm thinking somewhere around the 1000-1500 mark.

P.S. I'm still enjoying the CZ452 that you helped me fix up, but I just wanted another toy to play with.

Should have this one at the range soon, Anshutz 64 SBR
putting a T36 on it and looking forward to cracking a few 100 yard groups with Lapua circle X

Also in your price range rishu

Dammit Dave, you have all the nice toys. :D T36 is what I also think would look nice on it. Where did you pick up that beaut?

RAAC website doesn't show any Canada locations...?

I was going to get Peter Krause at Target Shooting Sports to order me one but I got turned onto a CGN member who had one new in the box that he wanted to part with. The bolt was never installed in it until I put it in last night. I have a few weaver T36's collecting dust in the closet so I needed something to put one on, ordered some Lapua center X and looking forward to shooting some 100 yard groups. The Joe Cowan front rest was on order for over a year and just arrived last month as well. I am hoping to have it all togeather and at the range in time for my birthday.

You mind parting with one of your "dust-collecting" T36's? :D I'm in the market for one.

Nice front rest. I need to get me one of those too... :)

If I keep surplus scopes around it gives me a reason to buy more guns, you have the right idea of posting an add in the EE though, keep us posted to what you find. In the mean time I will keep rolling over rocks looking for a Izhmash for you, Milarm had a couple a few months back (I told you it would come to me eventually :D)

Haha, I see you have seen my WTB in EE already :D

Is the 54/64 a good platform for a scoped BR rig? Or are there other options?

You can't go wrong with a 54 action, but it will cost you. The 64 SBR was a little cheaper so I could breathe a little more after the deal. There have been people getting good results with the CZ 453 varmint, Brno number 4, and some BSA martini single shots. First off determine your maximum price range including scope then go from there. A remington 541 would do you good as well and run from 550-850 on the used market. sometimes new isn't always the way to go :D

You might try looking for a CIL 190. They are a single-shot 64 action rebranded for the Canadian market. They can be found for quite a bit less than the eqivilent Annie with the exact same mechanics and quality.
Cheers,
Grant

Lots of options to be sure. I'll eventually let you guys know what I end up with :D

Speaking of which, where do y'all get your quality rimfire ammo? Locally the best stuff is Eley Tenex and Lapua Super Club (around Vancouver), but I'd like to expand my horizons and try out new ammo if I am to buy a new gun, just to see what it likes.
