Do you baby yours?
Is it purely a safe queen?
Or is it used and enjoyed like any other SKS?

Mine is 54 unfired by me refurb, and has been a safe queen.

The bluing isn't great, and Ive recently swapped the pretty looking laminate stock for an older red 1950 hardwood one giving it a cool used and abused look.

I'm done sheltering and protecting this rifle. I mean, what for?
I paid $220 after tax, and they don't list/sell for very much more than that on EE.

So screw it, I'm putting it in regular shooting rotation. It just may end up being my best SKS shooter...

I shoot every firearm I have... having a 'safe queen' only worth a few dollars more than the regular model, doesn't make sense to 'not shoot it'. But that's just me. SKS was made to put it through it's paces, sticking gophers and to shoot dirty corrosive ammo!

I have a '53 non-refurb Izhevsk, unfired. It sits in a nice coat of G96, and adds colour to my gun locker. It will never get fired. I have 3 other Tula non-refurbs and 1 '49 stock replacement refurb that are also sitting looking pretty. I just can't bring myself to using them when a refurb is only $200, with no shortage in sight. I have a refurb '50 that gets dirty on occasion. Now that it's riding season, nothing gets used much.

SKS's made to go BANG!!! everyone of them, at this moment in time every SKS that is sitting in a safe is just looking out, asking what did I do wrong......why doesn't he shoot me....LOL
Just shoot it already!! :)

Pretty sure mines a refurb. No stamps on the gun itself, but it came wearing a laminate stock which has a refurb stamp, and the handgaurd is red hardwood. So.....

I have a 53 Izzy with all matching numbers in a laminate stock from westrifle. It is just plain beautiful!

Two weeks ago I finally took it out of the safe, stripped it and cleaned the Cosmo off with the intention of shooting it...because like u guys stated, why not? However, I'm having second thoughts...it looks even better cleaned and oiled

The bottom one is the Izzy. Top is a 50. Both all matching although each are wearing mismatched parts on purpose and retained the originals. The 50 has a different Russian mag in order to use a better pinning method. The Izzy has the old red stock. Which is heavy as all hell compared to the others by the way. Feels hefty compared to laminate and my lighter coloured stocks.

All my as issued/unrefurbs and my refurb 49's are all safe queens and all 14 will never be shot by me. These are rare and will only go up in value. I have Chinese ones and refurb Russians to shoot and I have no desire or urge to shoot my collector guns whatsoever.

I have a 53' refurb that hasnt left my safe since I got it... but the novelty is starting to wear off and I think it might go up on the chopping block soon since I have so many other ones that are shooters.

I have a 54 Laminate Izzy, I just sold all my other SKS's. I have been shooting it before and will continue to shoot it in the future. What's the point of having it and now shooting it!

I have both '53-'54 as-issued- un refurb and in cosmoline of course
