J.M.Browning day at the range.

This week was John Moses Browning designed handguns, mostly 1911's.



First up, a Property Of The US 1911, dated to 1915.


A Series 70, 1911A1. My first IPSC pistol, from the early 80's. Ambi safety, Bomar barrel and rear sight, MMC front sight.



A Star PD, from the late 70's. Adjustable sights, the first real factory compact big bore. Way more accurate than it has any right to be. One of Jeff Cooper's favorites.



Combat Commander in electroless nickle finish. Novak sights. Extended Pachmeyer slide release.



LW Commander. Ambi safety, Heineken sights.



Officers ACP. Polished stainless.



Gold Cup, polished stainless.



Combat Commander, nickle plated, in 38 Super.



Government Model Series 70 in 9mm. Bone stock, accurate, and a very soft shooter in the full size steel frame.

All 45 ACP unless noted. Fun to shoot, not so much fun to chase brass. - dan

Funny you mention the PD. I used to plink with mine all the time. Seemed accurate with any ammo.

My oldest 1911 is a 1914 Canadian contract.

This is my second, and both have have been more accurate than they have any right to be. I've only ever seen a couple of Canadian contract 1911's. And never one for sale, sadly. - dan

Here is my Canadian contract. Glad to get it before the close. Not sure I'll shoot it, though.
