J. Tarratt and Sons Gunmakers

I have an old percussion muzzleloader that hung on the wall for years when I was a kid. It has a rifled barrel, 45 cal.
It has pretty sophisticated sights; hooded, adjustable bead sight front, with a v-sight mid barrel that tilts up for extreme long range shots, and a tang peep sight that of course tilts up.

The name on the sideplate is J. Tarratt & Sons, but no indication of city /country of origin.
Does anyone have any knowledge or information on this gunmaker that they'd care to share with me? I'm rather curious about it, after all these years!

How were you able to take these pics, rotate them correctly and post them properly?

Pics I post from my iPhone show up sideways so you’re trick might help me.
 
I was wondering the same, I don't have a I phone just wondering , I am too old to stand on my head, With a phone, It will show the pictures horz. always I think.
I use a camera, and load on the computer, than try to find the silly picture and load here ( that part ,no problem)
That looks better then the usual road kill that shows up, even with the break.
Run a brush and some patches down it, a bore scope would be nice, if someone had one, even good bores can look like crap with a scope.
There are pointers on the info page ( ?) on posting pictures, I think with phones you hold them sideways, rather than up and down, if I remember right

I think he is talking about the small chip by the end of the lock plate which is relly nothing at all and could be easily fixed.If it were mine I would probably have it resorted to shooting condition.If the more is badly it could be bored out to another cal if there is enough metal to do it

I saved the photos to my PC. Right click and select rotate until they are in the correct orientation, and then re-posted.

The rotate option is also available on phones.
