Jae-100 Update

I have put 500 rounds through my Jae-100 and can easily say that the stock is a benefit to "my" shooting skills. With a 'rinco that is stock my groupings shrunk with the Jae-100. Now that a good starting point has been established I will now unitize the gas system and report the findings, one step at a time is the best way for me to determine the result. I should mention that I have been shooting with optics right from the get go.

The 'rinco I am shooting now is probably one of the loosest I have ever seen(the gas system locks up at 10:00!!!) yet the Jae-100 gun stock addition has tightened up my groupings. The groupings could be comparable to a raced out 'Rinco. Factors that have improved the results is that the stock is very comfortable, the fit up is a natural feel. Being able to adjust the LOP and cheek rest means that you can accommodate your specific dimensions. Being able to shoot comfortably is always the best mod!!

Where is the best place to get surplus ammo?

I am having my op-rod spring retaining pin walk out on me during shooting on one of my CHU-WOOD stock rigs, what is up with that? It is a real treat to have the op rod spring eject out the magazine port!

I have glued a small spacer between where the retaining pin is and the stock. This keeps it from working loose...
 
I have noticed the same problem with the JAE-100 stock, the pin walks out because the stock has a relief cut out of it to allow the pin to move. I am going to drill and tap the receiver and put a set screw in to hold the pin tight. I will post pics of the procedure when it is done.

Easier said than done.....I personally would not do this or recommend this proceedure.
#1 you will now have a weak point in the receiver.
#2 you will have a screw interferring with stock, unless you mount it flush. looking at a receiver, the best pace would be the 45* angle at the front.....this is a good surface for stock contact....so it would have to be flush.
So IMHO this idea is :slap:


The two best, safest fixes are.

Put a block in the stock, glue it in. Fast, safe and easy.

The other choice is buy a USGI connector pin, put it on a lathe and turn it down a few thou to fit the Norc receiver. I have done this many times for stocks that where used with both Chi-com and US made receivers.
The external hardness of pin may be gone, but this isn't really an issue with this part especially when using a NM type op-rod spring guide.


To all GNutz.....please really think over any mods that you will do to a firearm.....even if it means you get an ass like myself :slap: 'ing you in the reponse.

Here are two USGI pins,
on the left : NEW .1975
on the right : turned down to .194 which fit in my norc
The original norinco pin that was in receiver was .191
