War is heck. Wacked by a 90mm Jackson, bulldozed off the side of road. Just one hole.
Let's paint a cross on it, to make it look more German.
We did a bit of (57mm?) target practice:
Our German friends were short of molybdenum (the Knabe mine in Norway was bombed) to add to the steel at the time. Nickel, tungsten, and manganese were also hard to come by. The Alkett model was Zwischenlosung (Interim Solution, total production 278), the tempering may have been a bit off, hence the cracking and warping:
The later Vomag version had dovetailed plates.
The lower hull is straight PZIV, yes.
The 2 small holes hull front are probably bolt holes, the bolts holding the armour together, hence the plate separation. You can see 2 intact bolt heads on the other side of the same plate. The thing sticking out is an partial penetration, note the driving bands.
My guess is that the lower 75mm penetrations broke the bolts/brackets.
For Jagdpanzer IV70(a) defense, 90mm and birdshot.
