Can anyone help a newbie out? I bought a brand new CZ75 SP-01 9mm and took it to the range for the first time tonight. My girlfriend Fired 10 rounds with a couple stove pipes (limp wristing a bit maybe) then I reloaded and fired 3 before it jammed. The slide is stuck back about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch and the slide will not move at all.

I'm kinda frustrated to say the least. Any help would be appreciated.

124 grain. I fired a round then pulled the trigger again and nothing happened. I'm assuming it is a live round.

Ok, got it fixed. I removed the slide and carefully removed the jammed cartridge with a light pry. I was using American Eagle 124 grain 9mm luger. Are the CZ's ammo picky? What is everyone else using in thier CZ's?

My CZ (SP-01) has digested every brand of ammo and bullet weight without issues. Did you clean out the heavy factory oil that CZ coats the pistol & mags in prior to shipping? If is clean, start off with a different mag and ammo. If you are still having a problem, come on back and we will talk about that too heavy of a recoil spring.

Thanks Stonehorse. I did clean it, wow they really paste it on don't they, I tried dropping the cartridge into the barrel and it dropped in fine but was alittle sticky coming out. Might be a flawed cartridge? I dropped a few more in and out to see what happened and they all ran smooth. I'll get another trip to the range in and let you know the results.

CZ's are picky about length.
Never had a problem with 124's any brand but have with long 147s.

Does the bullet have marks on it from rifling?

If you have a micrometer , measure the offending round.

The ridge on the casing right where the lead meets brass had a small sharp edge and another little (and I mean teeny) scuff farther back on the casing. I compared the offender to a clean round and they looked the same (no bulging etc...) but eye-balling it isn't exactly a great comparison.
