Jamming Ruger

My wife has recently purchased a Ruger Mark III Hunter and is generally pleased with its overall performance.

However, the gun is experiencing some jamming problems. After about every 100 rounds or so, a spent casing stove pipes in the action with the next cartridge wedged partially up the feed ramp. I've purchased a variety of ammo, but all have the same results.

I have read some posts suggesting that this may be a problem with the magazine being misaligned, but reviewing the gun further I believe the magazine lips are sitting properly.

Could there be a problem with the extractor or possibly the feed ramp?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The pistol is new, clean, and lubricated?
The magazine in new, and clean?
You've tried a second magazine?
You've tried quality high-velocity .22LR ammunition from different manufacturers?

A Volquartsen tool steel extractor will usually cure stovepiping problems on the Ruger 10/22 or Mk II/III (they all use the same part). For what they cost, it is well worth trying.

+1

Also know that a .22lr anything will jam on occasion (it doesn't mean you have a problem).

.22lr ammunition consistency/quality is not as good as center fire ammunition.

I will also suggest you mark/label the mags and see if the problem is magazine specific (also very possible with 22's)

hehe Thunderbolts... I bought a brick once and nearly every round from the first 50 had a problem. What a disappointment.
