Its a good thing the FRT still isnt law.

And yet, every gun that was reclassified as prohibited is unavailable for sale, transport, or use. It is unproductive to keep parroting this old line. It may not be law, but it is a component of what makes the law, like it or not.

And the court said that Businesses couldn't prove future losses from the ban as the customer could just buy something else. Really, maybe someone should remind the courts of the "Evergreen" program.

Thats because a business owner isnt going to risk being shut down/fined/arrested to keep selling them. Not because theyre actually illegal. Parroting defeatist bull#### helps no one.

Id imagine a potential charge for possession of a prohibited weapon for an individual still using their FRT "banned" guns is a lot less of a risk than a company having to worry about charges for continuing to stock, manufacture and distribute prohibited weapons considering they could see trafficking charges as well.

BOTH are likely to be thrown put after an expensive court battle as the FRT IS NOT a legal document and holds absolutely no legal weight.

Get legal defense insurance, and dont let the government scare you into complying with illegal mandates.

At this point I think you can assume all guns will be prohibited. I better bury my bolt actions.

If you strictly apply all the various doctrines currently enshrined in law, including the Hasselwander Doctrine, and consistently apply the Murray Smith Interpretation of Variant, all guns in Canada are already prohibited.

Lol that was a good one.

As far as I'm concerned, the only guns banned are the models listed in the Gazzete on the RCMP site, and I still don't see Sterling there.

If FRT...
1) isn't law
2) isn't publicly accessible
3) is not updated or announced to licens holders

Then I'll continue shooting my Non restricted Sterling TSR.

Whether any particular firearm is classified as prohibited or not, is up to the judge, at your trial.

Do you think your judge is going to agree that your firearm is not prohibited because

the FRT:
1) isn't law
2) isn't publicly accessible
3) is not updated or announced to licens holders.

Or are you going to have some evidence that relates to your particular firearm that proves it isn't captured under any provision of law that could be interpreted as meaning your firearm falls within the prohibited class.

You are correct that the FRT isn't law. Its just the RCMPs opinion. Murray Smith himself testified that people are free to form their own opinions and live accordingly. To each their own.

I hope it works out for you.

If you think its time to bury your guns, its more likely time to use them. Just saying.

History tells us that governments only seize civilian firearms when they intend to do something they fear you would shoot them for doing.

If you want to stick with a Canadian manufacturer, SBI is doing final testing of their 180 Lynx upper to pair with their Lynx lower, and they will soon releasing a direct impingement bolt control group to follow what would allow you to re-use all of your donor rifle's fore-end components, including the gas tube, gas block, barrel and handguard (though if its low profile the for-end rail may be stepped down from the receiver's rail).

If you can't wait for the Lynx, Sylvestre Sports in Bonneyville, Alberta by some miracle managed to work with the manufacturer Jard to get a post-OIC non-restricted addition to the FRT for the Jard J180. It is made in the States, and it looks like a brick, especially when compared to the svelte Lynx, but it too does allow re-use of the complete forearm, since it impinges gas against a 180 recoil harvesting system using a Stoner pseudo-piston style bolt.

As noted, the 180 designs may one day meet an OIC ban hammer, but one must seize the day and spit one's last breath at thine enemy will thoust still can!
