I want to give a plug for Clay from Prophet River (a CGN sponsor). He was very helpful in getting this rifle back home to Canada. It was my first import and it went really smoothly.

So what does it cost to import a rifle into Canada from the states, if you don't mind me asking? I heard it was only worth it for rifles over $1000 in value.

I paid Prophet River $195 for the import, with G.S.T. and shipping from Clay's shop in Lloydminster on top of that. Because the Ross was of Canadian manufacture, I paid no duty (so other firearms may get that added on).

Clay also offers a discount if you're bringing in more than one firearm at a time.

From my perspective, depending on rarity and the initial purchase price, that makes less-expensive rifles worth importing.

My first firearm, 1942 No 4 Mk 1* made at Longbranch. Looking to restore her to her former glory sometime :D

Very happy I got into the gun game while I'm still young, gives me more time to collect :D

ricky101, the barrel on that rifle has been docked. It isn't worth restoring at this time. It would be cheaper for you to buy a complete rifle already in military garb.

Save that old girl for hunting. That's just part of her history. It could have been much worse.

X2. Barrel chopped and front sight added.

Not bad then, you can't restore her to ww2 glory but you can make her look pretty if you wanted to. Without the guilt of bubba-ing.

Got myself a 1944 Izhevsk made Mosin Nagant M44 of the EE. No pics cuz I still can't figure out how to do that, but she's no show piece- counterbored barrel, almost every piece is electropenciled, well worn stock, etc. etc. She's perfect! This is going to be my "bush gun".

41 1/2 is way to short for anything, other than a pretty sporter. You may want to try out a "tanker model" which didn't exist in reality but that would set you back another $150 in parts, minimum.
