In Japan, it was once considered taboo for a woman to speak with a man before he went on a hunt. But a rising number of female hunters are taking up arms, at their government's behest.
Over the last decade, Japanese farmers have lost up to $170 million annually because of a booming deer and boar population, among other animals that nosh on vegetable crops. The Ministry of Agriculture enlists hunters to help control the pest problem and protect the farms.

At the same time, there are fewer male hunters in Japan due to age and rural depopulation. Hunting groups and local governments are now recruiting women to get the job done.

Thomas Peter, a German photographer based in Tokyo, spent time with budding female hunters for Reuters in late 2016. Here's a look at what it was like.

I am just reading this article right now.
Well, its on another tab while seeing if it was posted this morning.
Some interesting numbers.
From 105,000 in the 1970's... currently 105000 licensed hunters and 1170 are female.
And 2/3 rds are over 60.

I live in japan for most of The year. You guys would be jealous if i told you how many deer and piggies im allowed to take. Many times farmers will actually pay money per head to get the critters off their land. For a young man like me, the hunting scene in japan is ridiculous i feel like the king of the mountains. Being one of only 2 hunters in my province :p

I have a Yank friend in Yokosuka. Where he hunts he can take a deer a day. It sounds like a hunting paradise.

Actually JAL would be my choice of Airline.
I'm sure it is not at all that easy to become legal, not to mention being a foreign national would expedite the process.
It is an interesting read especially when I wasnt looking for anything firearms/hunting related this morning.
Now its time to go and surf the Mother Harley site for engine ideas.
Cold Tuna Sashimi and Warm Saki,

If there is renewed hunting "action" in one of the most modern overpopulated societies in the world and they are truly looking for growth amongst the "fairer ###", then this is good news......
