Japanese women are entering the world of hunting - at the government's request

Would probably drain a bank account rapidly, but I would really fancy a hunt in Japan. What a great way to be introduced to that particular country and get an insight into their culture.

Firearms are heavily regulated. its very expensive and time consuming process to acquire and maintain a licence. you gotta be really committed.
cost almost 3000$ to get a single shot shotgun.
No wonder hunting is dying over there, your not a local and still make up 50% of the local hunting population, makes ones head kinda spin lucky SOB!
The Japanese Gunnutz EE,
WTS: Coeey 84 12 gauge, some rust pitting, shows handling marks, $5000

What single shot did you get and hoe much of that 3k was the gun? Maintain how so?

Most japanese people work ridiculous work hours and dont have time to hunt even if they wanted to.
In the more wilder parts of the country like up north hunting is very common and there are many hunters.
I got an h&r 20ga. for about ~$500 and it was used.
you need to renew your licences every year, buy 2 safes, one for ammo, one for the firearm, police WILL inspect your storage every month. there are various fee's from many government organizations and stuff. its really sucks.
ammo is usually $10 per shot. so most people reload.

Check out ht tps://www.youtube.com/user/virtuovice if you are interested in learning more about hunting, bushcraft, etc. in Japan. Great channel.

My wife is from a very rural area of Kyushu and some of her relatives hunt deer and boar. I dream of retiring there and living off the land, but with such heavy regulation of firearms I fear it is just that; a dream.

Most of the guys i know that hunt there dont mess around either. they go for the pricey guns and optics. sauer, sako, etc. japanese people really like to geek out with their hobbies.

you are only allowed to hunt with firearms and by trapping.
bows and other methods may be used if you are participating in a government sponsored cull.

we had a friend that went hunting deer on Hokaiddo island and the foreigners were allowed only to hunt with bow ... they cant bring in, they need to borrow there. seems bear license was available ...
