JC Barrels...yay or nay?

My first JC barrel is a .308 light Palma contour. It has only 68 rounds through it so far.
After getting the R700 set up and zeroed, I fired 9 5-shot groups using ammunition loaded with 155gr SMKs which I had on hand. Loads assembled for another rifle.
All 9 consecutive groups were sub-minute.

Nothing special really. But would be nice if he gave a more accurate time frame.
Will be worth the wait. But just not sure if I will have before hunting season.

I ordered mine on November 18th and got it April 30th. It is on my wife's 6BR and it shoots amazing. I would definitely order another, just have to plan ahead.

Ever single JC barrel I’ve had in my lathe has been very straight. I can’t say the same about most others.
The wait time is long. But you will be getting a top notch barrel.

He actually rejected the first barrel that he made for me as it developed a very slight warp, he said it would shoot fine but wasn't up to his standards. He has since cut about 6 inches off of that barrel and is shooting it himself as a practice gun. He's definitely on top of his quality control.

Finally got a response from him. Said another couple weeks. I would rather have quality than a rushed job. I think the word has gotten out and he is just plain old busy.

My only JC shoots pretty well, with minimal load development.

100M range. 1 cm target grid.

But my buddy's 'indentical' barrel- ordered at the same time, chambered for the same cartridge, spun on by the same smith- has been sort of inconsistent. Not sure why. I think we will try KS next time.
