you might as well buy the g36 clones because whether you do or not you will have an irresistible urge to make it that way :D

All I'm asking for is a reasonable price on NIB or "mint" SL8. I may very well opt to do a G36 conversion, but for now I would be happy with a stock unit........

These are not large volume sellers and the margins are skinny. Retailer sell all they can get and don't need to move off the price at all. That ole supply and demand story.

Full price, minus shipping AND tax? (assuming private sale) If so, thats not bad on a NIB gun. Over $200 off.

I've seen them on the EE for considerably less than retail. Just be patient. Some guys aren;t in a hurry to sell, those are the ads to avoid.

I think many who own Hk products have gotten their disease. You know, where the general public can f*ck themselves and pay more than a fair price for their products. its the same old story. Everyone wants their money back and then some on a used product.

Haha, not an HK fan I gather? ;) Get an ACR, Tavor or FS2000. Same difference. Just not an XCR...

I don't have a particular hate on for HK. I simply can't stand their arrogant attitude and the complete lack of service offered. Not to mention the grossly over priced products.

As for the other options. The FS2000 is another over priced hunk of crap. Fixed LOP and bullpup are bad ideas. Same goes for the Tavor. Too much money for zero gain. The XCR is well, another Alex Robinson "wonder gun" and isn't worth nearly half the money they command.

The overpricing and service in Canada has more to do with a certain distributor than anything else... The FS2000 and Tavor are awesome; what are you smoking?! For some of us fixed LOP and bullpup = win. I got nothing on the XCR...

That has a lot more to do than with the local distributor than HK. Try buying from HK direct outside the country and you will find a whole different world. Wonderful company with excellent products that actually stand up to harsh conditions. the price reflects the quality of the materials they use.

For recreational shooters on a budget HK may not be the best choice.

Fixed LOP means the rifle fits next to no one who uses a proper squared stance(for dynamic work). The bullpup means transitioning to the support side results in hot brass in the mouth(excluding the FS2000). Bullpup rifles are slow to reload and the E port on the FS2000 leaves something to be desired. I see blockages and stoppages that could be terminal.

Spoken like a true traditionalist. To each their own; some of us love our Tavors and FS2000's, and as we're not necessarily using them for anything more than recreation - a lot of these "shortcomings" aren't necessarily applicable. I will say that bullpups (being compact, lightweight and non-restricted) are very handy for things like coyotes...

Compact has no bearing when shooting outdoors, especially doing predator work. Lightweight is an attribute shared by many rifles. Non restricted is where the advantage lies, albeit a small one.

For predator work a bullpup is fine. For competition or service, its not. Seeing as how all bullpups are/were designed as service rifles first, they're failures.

Respectively let's just agree to disagree on some of your points. When it comes to black rifles, it's either non-restricted/unlimited or restricted/range - so there's a huge advantage with the former. I believe I did suggest that bullpups were perfectly fine for recreational use; as for competition or service, I imagine it's predominantly or exclusively dominated by ARs.
