Jeezuzz - WTF Happened to Marlin?

If I am ever going to own another 30-30 levergun it will either be an older Marlin of a new Winchester Miroku. I have a Browning SRC made by them and it makes a Winnie look shabby. Extra money is well spent and they tend to be accurate too. They sure are purdy.

So again I ask, where are the pictures of the so called poor fitting wood to frame or the misaligned drilled base holes?
Funny, I was at Reliable today and the store has a whole new look , the scopes are in a counter display, the firearms rack runs to the front of the store, new lighting and low and behold a used Marlin 336 in the rack.
Perfect filling wood, perfectly drilled and aligned holes for bases, the only thing I couldn't see or test was the feed function.
But, then again I am a Union Thug and wtf would I know!
Tight Groups,
Rob

Marlins reputation, would not be helped by pictures alone.Devine intervention, might!

I can't provide pictures of the rifles that the OP examined, but here are some from a 2007/2008 Marlin 1894c that I ordered. This was actually just before Remington officially purchased Marlin, but gives you an example of some of the poor workmanship. I got dicked around for 6 months by the western Canada Marlin warranty agent, but to Remington/Marlin's credit, when I raised the issue to the corporate level, they quickly replaced the rifle with a Remington 700 stainless (I had already bought a replacement *used* 1894c, so didn't want another)...

I dearly hope Marlin has turned the bend, as they were one of my favourite firearm manufacturers; however, they've definitely soiled their reputation. Fortunately, there's an ample supply of used Marlins from the bygone era that can still be enjoyed.

So I finally brought out my brand spanking new SBL.

Within 7 shots, the butt stock became loose ~ half cm (lot!) of play when you try wiggling it.

Of those 7 shots, there was 3x FTE / FTLs. (lifter not cleanly going down after a cycle).

At which point, on the last, buddy of mine badly cut his finger on a sharp edge while trying to clear a jam.

This was supposed to be of the batch where Marlin was going to win back the people it lost...she's getting brought back to the store.

Not sure if this was just a lemon out of a batch of better, but I'm asking for an exchange to something else...not this bugger.

Cheers,

Trade it in for a new (Miroku re-pro) Winchester M-1895 in .405Win, or a M-1886 in .45-70. It'll cost you twice as much, but it will be handled and used with pride by your descendants (God willing we stop the LEFT).

Marlin problems are old news.Could fill a large book with these stories. However the die hards will say they are surprised,or must be an isolated case,or just will not believe.Oh well, they are only fooling themselves,or maybe not!

Don't no if its right, just thought i would pass it on,

Marlin Firearms is already closing its doors! They are doing it to us,
> America! Even if you do not own a gun you need to know this. This
> needs to be spread to all gun owners and sportsman. We cannot rely on

> Something You May Not Know That Is Happening

> Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns??? For the last several

> What a perfect way to control guns.

> Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned

> Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS!!! He wants to restrict or ban all civilian

> Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to

Next time spend 10 seconds on Google:

Internet Rumors About Cerberus, Freedom Group Are Patently False

Recently, an old rumor regarding Cerberus--the private equity firm that owns Freedom group, a holding company that in turn owns a number of firearms manufacturers, including Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, and DPMS--was in some way tied to George Soros.

This rumor is completely false and baseless.

NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time. The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.

In reality, at no time has George Soros ever been a part of the ownership group of Freedom Group or Cerberus, and as a privately traded corporation, there is no possibility that he will be in the future.

This unsubstantiated rumor has caused a great deal of unnecessary concern for gun owners. NRA-ILA urges our members to take great care before repeating baseless rumors found on the Internet.
