Good day all, I have a bunch of 485gr .458 jet gas checked cast bullets and I’m getting 285gr 9.3 bullets from a friend, but I know nothing about those bullets and I would like to know what should I expect from them into games? I asking cause I have a friend up here who tested some cast bullets(not jet I don’t think) in water jugs and they pretty much disintegrated, something I wouldn’t want to happen in game animals and especially not on a charging bear of any kind lol.
So for the people that have used jet bullets in the past or today what is your experience with them!

This is the only game I’ve shot with a jet bullet. At about 75 yards after he’d just finished destroying the apple tree in my back yard. Using a 310gr gc bullet out of my 444 marlin. It was a steeply angled shot that entered the ribs just ahead of the left hind leg, the bullet exited just underneath his right ear. To each their own but that is exactly the performance I want out of a bear gun.

DGY, I've seen cast lead bullets as hard as 18 on the hardness scale blow apart on water jugs, but at 3 meters or less, when driven around 1900fps.

Move the jug out to 25 yards, and it performs perfectly.

Even if you shot a Bear at point blank range, and the bullet grenades, all of that energy would be expended inside the animal. Even if you hit a hard skull or shoulder, it's going to break, and put the animal down for another shot.
