Hey all, might upgrade on the rem 700 I got here. Was looking at this one because (correct me if I'm wrong) it retains the safety, bolt release and is externally adjustable?

What do you think of this trigger? I don't hunt, hate heavy triggers as I start to shake like a leaf holding my breath waiting for it to pop.

Lol at my reply in the mdt thread!!

I have Jewel om two rifles - one a custom built on a Rem 700 - and I like the trigger. I have heard they are not as robust as some but for me ( a range rover ) they are excellent. IMO better than the Rifle Basik on my Coyote but there is probably a reason ( durability perhaps ? ) that PGW uses them rather than Jewel.l

I concur with ryanshaw. Jewels come with 3 springs for trigger pull weight. I have the heaviest spring in my 7mm rem and its 3 ounces... I personally hunt with that. Jewlel triggers are in the same class as Night Force and Swarovski optics as far as i am concerned. If you are seriouse about shooting, they are a manditory requirment weather hunting or just at the range. I do not have a rifle that does not have one in it. Buy it ... Enjoy it !

Don't forget about S&B:D

Ordered one! With the bottom safety and no bolt release, will see how I feel about that later. 1.5 ounce trigger sounds pretty damn light!! Should be much better that the stock 700 trigger...

Also ordered up a Choate tactical stock while I was at it. Can't wait.

Is this going on a standard Remington 700? If so, how do you plan on releasing the bolt? The versions without a bolt release are designed to work with receivers that have a bolt release integrated into the receiver itself, and not reliant on actuation by the trigger mechanism. You may want to reconsider your purchase.

Hmmm I see what your saying. I was under the impression it would be okay but that sounds like it will not work. Better do some looking here.

Off the top of my head, I do not know who can/will do the work, but here is an example of the work to be done. Please excuse the gigantic picture i shamelessly stole from the interwebz:

In my opinion, you're way better off ponying up the extra $50 and just getting the trigger that you originally posted. The side bolt release will cost you way more than that.

You will need some additional work done to your action to install a bolt release. The action will need to be milled out for some or at leasted drilled and tapped for other types of bolt releases. Or get the trigger with the built in bolt release.
