Jewell 700 rem (Got one! Wow)

Jewell trigger

I have had a Jewell trigger without the bolt release feature on it. On the 700 action the bolt stop is pinned to the action with one of the trigger pins. To release the bolt when you have the Jewell in just reach alongside the bolt when it is open with a slim screwdriver and depress the bolt stop and slide the bolt out. The only time I take my bolt out is to clean the gun.

Perfect, I read this somewhere else to and I don't mind doing it that way for now. Thanks for the info guys.

I don't understand why you don't just order the proper trigger. That trigger is designed for 50cal actions that don't have room for a top side safety.

Man you guys are not kidding. This thing is amazing, factory set to 1lbs makes my stock trigger dialed down seem like it was 5lbs or more. Don't have a gauge but it is damn amazing. 10 minute install! Turns out I quite like the bottom safety. No bolt release, no big deal, it's in there just have to push it down from the top to release the bolt.

Thanks to mystic for the trigger and choate stock.... to bad he made me wait 2 whole days while it shipped (j/k), that guy is damn fast!

Ordered one! With the bottom safety and no bolt release, will see how I feel about that later. 1.5 ounce trigger sounds pretty damn light!! Should be much better that the stock 700 trigger...

Also ordered up a Choate tactical stock while I was at it. Can't wait.

Shoulda got the bolt release....what a PITA without it as you always have to have something handy with you to push down the plunger inside the action in the event you have to pull your bolt when you do not expect to do so.

You pull your bolt more than you ever think, I thought the same thing on one of my F-Class rigs and regretted every minute of it.

You can of course get a side bolt release installed in your action.

I have 3 Jewel triggers and love them all, just dont pierce primers as you will be setting the trigger up again from scratch and/or repairing it.

I had to take one of mine completely apart last night after piercing a primer and ending my evening at the range. Turned out the firing pin caused 2 of the pieces to lock up inside the trigger so I had to unbind them and then reassemble the whole unit, but it is still working great as I had it out today but will be packing an extra trigger to matches from now on.

I concur with ryanshaw. Jewels come with 3 springs for trigger pull weight. I have the heaviest spring in my 7mm rem and its 3 ounces... I personally hunt with that. Jewlel triggers are in the same class as Night Force and Swarovski optics as far as i am concerned. If you are seriouse about shooting, they are a manditory requirment weather hunting or just at the range. I do not have a rifle that does not have one in it. Buy it ... Enjoy it !

Jewell triggers are fantastic, but adjusting one under 2-2.5 lb on a hunting rifle is a sure-fired recipe for a negligent discharge or tragedy. The company does make a dedicated hunting type trigger that is much safer than their benchrest style trigger. If you plan on using your rifle anywhere other than on a range, please use the proper and safer trigger.

I really only pull my bolt out to clean, never had it out at the range once. I'm really not worried about it.

Thanks for the tips though on the primers!

The varmint hunter Jewell trigger can be ordered with safety and bolt release lever, these items are not available on the competition models.
