Jim Shockey wins Weatherby award.

Can't wait for the commercials. I trust my life to the weatherby award, you should too.

The endorsements provide the income that allows him to hunt all over the world. May be annoying, but a necessary evil. I, on the other hand, endorse nothing, have very limited income, and can only afford to hunt in my own back yard.

x2, very true! How many would turn down the chance to hunt the world over in exchange for a few shameless plugs!! Haha

Met him a couple of times at the range. Was always friendly. Gave me and a buddy some black powder with his picture on it a few years back. Wanted us to try it and see if it was any good. I told him shouldn’t it he try it before he endorsed it? I guess he probably make more by whoring himself out to sell products than guided hunts, who knows:p

I'm surprised his museum wasn't mentioned actually, but yes, it sounds like it is open now. It is called "Hand of Man". A few local hunters/outdoorsmen on one of the BC hunting forums have visited and have said good things about it.

My wife and I stopped by his museum on Saturday. It was worth the visit and he even dropped by while we were there and talked to us like he knew us for years.

And all that and $1.75 will get you a coffee at Tim Hortons. I used to watch the hunting and fishing shows but they have turned the pursuits into nothing but a steaming pile of H:S: commercialism and product sales rammed down your throat. I absolutely hate what it has become so I don’t bother with the shows any more.

x2, about covers it.

I have always enjoyed his shows and skip/ignore the shameless plugs. That’s the world these days unfortunately.

The journeys are exciting and his attitudes on hunting, people and life are truly refreshing.

Probably my favorite hunting icon and from the good old Canadian prairies! Bravo on this award.

Anyone know where to watch the new season of Hunting Adventures other than this Outdoor Channel I can’t get?

Why is it that every thread discussing a hunting or fishing show is required to have the clueless cry babies whining about famous people promoting their sponsors? I'm not sure if these people are honestly too clueless to realize that filming said hunting and fishing shows is very expensive (travel, legal, cost to broadcast on tv, licensing, etc) and sponsor money is required for production or if they're simply jealous of the people they're complaining about?

Congrats to Mr. Shockey for winning the award.

Congrats to Mr. Shockey for winning the award.

Envy. The sad thing is that the people who complain the loudest would do filthy things to have 10% of the opportunities that TV hunters have.

"I trust my life to this hat! ....or wait...what am I endorsing today"

I much prefer his old videos.

All joking aside- good for him, it's great to see a Canadian!!!

Why, the heck would somebody give attention to Sockeye?

He kills/ed whatever game animal would look big enough for his purpose. It does not seem he is feeding the meat to his family but does it solely for money and making a TV career while receiving sponsors awards.

Now, why is that?
