Hey everyone,

I've been shooting triple 7 pyrodex through my tc pro hunter .50 cal and have had some decent results with it, about 3 inch groups at 100 yards but I was never satisfied. I purchased this Jim Shockeys Yukon gold a while ago and I was persuaded not to shoot it because I took the suggestion from a long time muzzleloader shooter that loose powder shoots best. Anyway, long story short, I went to the range today and shot my muzzleloader, shot the same groups and said to myself "let's try the jim shockey stuff". A 3 shot group at 100 yrds, all three rounds touching each other dead center of the target. I made no changes to the scope( leupold ultimate slam 3x9x40 s.a.b.r. Reticle), shooting hornady sst 250 grain and 90 grain loose powder. The Jim shockey stuff is 100 grain sticks for .50 cal. I would love to know of any of you guys that shoot this stuff and I want to know your opinions on it.

Cheers
Mike

It was my last 3 primers I had so that's all I was able to do. I'm going back to the range to see the consistency of it because it did draw my attention but I don't know enough about how well it shoots from my gun yet. I definitely won't stock up on it yet, the only things that worry me is that they are pre-cut, pre-measured and the availability of it. But if they do perform like they did today then I will have to change over and stock up on it, in case it gets hard to find in my area.

There is some belief out there with more experienced muzzleloading shooters than myself, that if you can replicate this on three different occassions under differing conditions, you should be able to count on it as a standard of sorts.

maybe

I shot a 100 yd 1/2" group using iron sights on a badly worn lee enfield once. Couldn't do it again with that rifle and ammo in a hundred tries probably.

Your results look promising, but maybe it was a fluke like i had with that old LE. One group doesn't mean squat, unfortunately. Shoot 5 x three shot groups and you start to have an idea what you've got.

You can't upload pics directly to CGN.

You have to upload photos to Photobucket or another photo-hosting site. Then copy the photobucket link and paste it in your CGN post. Then a picture magically appears.

Ok thanks...and hopefully it works

Centre target is 8" diameter and outside targets are 3 "

This is 100 yards same bullet... 2 rounds kissing on centre(just a heads up because it isn't noticeable)

This is 100 yards same bullet...

you can see I shot another group at the top right target just to make sure that I know it was the bullet shooting a bit lower than the hornady... I made no changes to my scope to compensate for the Barnes shooting lower. Now I know the consistency of this powder and it is time to stock up on it for me. Hope you guys can see the pics and enjoy, let me know what u think

Cheers

Mike
