Good morning. I posted this in the hunting arms section but got no real replies. So I'll try here LOL.

Anyways I've got a mint JM stamped Marlin 410 lever shotgun. I don't believe it's ever been fired. Any idea what the value is? I'm thinking of tossing it on the EE but would like a reference point. These were made for one year (2004 I believe) and were very limited. Thanks

EDIT: found one for 1500$ on gun broker but nothing here in canada

Welcome to selling a unique or rare gun in canada. The odd time you may fluke it but that is not the norm
I have shotguns that would sell state side for 7500 Us and cannot get 3000 cd for them here and tried so I keep them
If you can get in canadian dollars what they sell for in us you are dam lucky and kiss the new owner
Take this as you may. True Collectors that will pay the bucks of such want the original box and 100% unfired not an assumption it hasn't
Take care

I take the prices on the US gun auction websites with a grain of salt... and sometimes a lot of salt. If you follow them a bit then often you will see that the high priced guns are not getting any bids which tells you that the buy now price is too high and the gun ends up not selling.

When winchester first introduced the 9410 quickly followed by the Marlin410 there was a bit of interest in them but it died quickly. Then winchester stopped making the 94 and the 9410 and a couple years later they were a scarce sought after collectors item though I don think the marlin really had the same following.I had one of the traditional 9410s with chokes and I sold it for $1800 a few years ago for a nice profit but I don t think people are paying big bucks for them anyone more unless they really have to have one. When Henry started to produce their 410 lever (got it at half price)which I currently own they cornered the market for anyone that wants one just for shooting/hunting leaving the winchester 9410s and the Marlins for the people that wants more of a collector unless they can find a cheap used one.Personally. Have to say I prefer the Henry over the winchester as I found the henry cycles more slicker thogh the henry is a tad heavier.I n my opinion it depends on what you want and how bad you want it and how much your willing to pay for it.

I can't imagine anyone paying $1500 for a production model Marlin made in the 2000's but maybe that's just me.i also can't understand the appeal of a heavy lever action .410 either but again, maybe that's just me. Besides, by 2004 marlin QC had already begun to wane so chances are , your getting as good or better if you bought one made today for what they are currently selling for new.

When this shotgun was made, it was before the freedom group take over so quality is much better than anything currently produced. Any JM stamped product (such is this) is better than current production. Same goes with Remington, bushmaster etc

Nothing special about that gun... $1000 is fair to both parties.

Can you elaborate? Not trying to sound condescending or anything, just curious as to the reason for your statement. I guess I just assumed that a gun made for a single year in very limited production numbers before the Freedom group take over (thus JM stamped) could hold value to a Marlin collector? Again, im a black rifle guy so pardon my statement if im way off here. LOL

Honestly that is worth nothing and not true in all cases
I have dozens of remington wingmasters as an example right to year one 1950 and yes the old ones are good but so are the new ones in fact to some with choke tubes better
Cheers

You are grasping. As a shotgun collector your gun had collector value until it was remade. That screwed it
It was like when browning started making the winchester model 12's again. Values of original model 12's hit all time lows within months

Yeah I guess those newly produced models pooched me. I should have sold this sucker last year! LOL. Oh well, it doesnt owe me anything either. I was just hoping it was gonna help fund my Stag 10. Damn. LOL. That is life....you win some, you loose some.
