John Hunt passes away

My condolences to John's family and friends.

I met John briefly at the last HuntFest and he was a very nice guy, down to earth and a class act.

Had the opportunity to guide Mr. Hunt a few times. He was a great guy with a great sense of humor. He was also an extremely charitable individual. There is no doubt that he lived life to the fullest. He treated myself and other guides with a great deal of respect.

I am very sad to hear this about John, I liked him very much. I always told guys I like his show because he showed it all, if he missed a shot or done something a bit dumb like we all do from time time, he left it in the show which actually made it better. Like the time he was dall sheep hunting he said he didn't do anything to get in shape for the hunt and in fact just had just got out of the hospital. He said it the way it was.

That's what I like about John's show too, honest and not alot of flash and flare like alot of the other shows. Very sad news. RIP John.

I used to go to Advanced Taxidermy and the owner would show me all of John Hunt's mounts. Man that guy lived the ultimate life, had to be 50+ mounts there at all times. Died doing what he loved most. Not a bad way to go.

He was doing the thing he enjoyed when his time came.

A stroke is not a pleasant thing to have happen to a person. I know first hand.
