John Wayne 1-handed lever operation.

Well, we have the bolt guys on this one, aint no way to do that with a bolt gun. :)

.

Sorry Johnny, you are wrong!!:D

You *can* manipulate a bolt action wiht one hand, although it isn't nearly as cool looking on camera.

You fire the cartridge (from the hip, as I can't think of too many bolt actions you can fire liek a pistol) once fired, you release your hand from the trigger area, and grasp the bolt, letting the barrel fall downwards.

The barrel will fall down, you are pulling up on the bolt and it pops out the spent case.

Then you flip the rifle up, keeping the heel of your hand on the bolt handle, and pulling up wiht your fingers on the triggerguard area, and a new shell feeds in.

I would not even begin to suggest this is safe or even very efficient, but it can be done- As long as the rifle is not too heavy (no HB rifles) , your hand are large enough to control the firearm when doing this, and you have a certain amount of upper body/arm strength.

Anyone trying this with live ammo deserves to get a hole in thier foot. Please don't try it in an apartment!

I'd like to see a vid of that. Sounds painfull, slow, and, NUTS! Preferably side by side with a guy doing it the right way, with a lever gun. :D

John Wayne would've been 100 years old this month if he'd lived...

I was picturing a guy with a mauled left arm propped up against a tree trunk doing the operation with Indians or wolves coming at him - different imaginations!

My dad is a huge John Wayne buff and a cowboy action shooter...I recall him once telling me that John Wayne used the big loop on the lever because he had very large hands and it was uncomfortable to use a regular sized loop.

If that's the case, I feel for him. I use three fingers in mine most of the tme.

I have seen this type of throw-cocking in The Quick And The Dead.

Some guy up on top of a roof or watchtower or something...and he does the exact same thing as The Duke
