The magazine may be pinned to 5 rounds as it is a semi auto centrefire. The garand M1 has the exemption for being over 5 rounds

Century International Arms brought in a lot of these rifles in the late 60's or early 70's. The condition varied from very poor to very good. I think they came from southeast asia. The price was around $70.00 and Garands were $90.00. I bought some and two were good+ and two were VG++. The bores were no hell. Thats why the Garands sold first and the johnson's sold because they were 3006.

Southeast Asia sounds about right. They were built on contract for the Dutch colonial government, a lot were used by USMC. Rifles remaining after the war should have been delivered to the Dutch, used in what is now Indonesia.

Lotta Johnsons have been through 2 wars in the tropics, really look it.

Big query: does the M.1903 Springfield barrel work for rebarreling one of these?
